My Smooth Collie Brutus has been mistaken several times for a Greyhound mix:o
Most people recognize Bitsy as being a pom and Nacey as being a pug (usually mistaken for a male pug, but a pug nonetheless).
People often ask if Buster is a chihuahua and if Charlie is a min pin. Most people get their breeds right, they just question it.
When it comes to Nova and Jake I ususally get asked "What kind of dog is that?" We don't know what either are.
I usually call Nova a mini-mutt or a dachshund mix. I have no idea what she is, all I know is she is a terrier at heart.
I call Jake a basenji mix. I really don't know what he is though. I do see a lot of basenji in him. I also see pit bull in him. Someone once called him a bull terrier (they were probably thinking pit bull terrier and misspoke).
Where do I begin lol?
Ok, Sassy has been mistaken for a Westie, Bichon, Shih Tzu, Poodle, Cairn Terrier, Corgi( ), Chi, a purebred JRT, Poodle mix, JRTxWestie mix, ect. There are so many things she's been mistaken for. Since when are JRT's pure white and furry like Sassy? A majority of people call her a poodle though. Someone once asked me is she was a STANDARD poodle. :p I can't even believe it.
Someone asked if Lily was a Chihuahua.. and Roxy's gotten all sorts of things..:p
Marty-Dachshund
Maggie's puppy
lol what's funny is when I'm walking together, people will tell their kids not to come near Maggie because I have one of her pups with...
Maggie-Doberman
Rottweiler
Pit Bull
Boxer
Roxie-Miniature Pinscher
Doberman(I actually get this A LOT)
Chihuahua(most min pin owners actually get this and I can't blame them, when a min pin's ears aren't done they do kind of look like a chi) I'm going to buy Roxie a shirt they make for min pins that says "I'm not a freakin chihuahua!" I should see if they have a "I'm not a freakin doberman!" too. :p
Alex-Miniature Poodle
Thankfully nothing, I'm not to sure what they could mistake them for either.
I have a mini american eskimo and he was mistaken for a white pomeranian!
It's hard to tell in this pic because Bower is only 10 weeks old but he is very often thought to be a pitbull-he's actually a boxer-shepard mix....I don't think he looks anything like a pit but who knows...

oh boy..
Riley; australian shepherd..people always say that border collies don't come in tri color, so she must be an aussie.
Rebel; Aussie too, because border collies don't come in merle , also dalmatian, australian cattle dog, catahoula[sp?] leopard dog.. and more...
Lmao animalrescue-'Maggie's Puppy'. :) Although I really feel bad for people with Manchester Terriers...I'm sure they are always explaining that no, it's not a min pin, or a mini dobie, or a deformed dachshund. :)
My shepherd got called a wolf, Sam my akita/lab/?? got called a bear, and Boomer my husky/bc/akita?? got called a fox. LOL, by 12 year old kids. My shepherd gets wolf a lot though.
I had someone at the dog park yesterday swear up and down that Zoie was NOT a whippet. When I attempted to explain why we think she is a whippet cross, the lady yelled at me and told me she is not, that she is an english pointer cross. I asked if she meant GSP, and she said no, definately english pointer. Yes mmhmm this is all english pointer. ;)

Tobey used to be mistaken for a GSD puppy :D
People always ask me if my doxies are mixed because they are piebalds, which you don't see that often. I hate having to tell people they are indeed dachsies.
I have a Curly Coated Retriever named Daisy that everyone mistakes for either a lab mix or a Labradoodle. She looks NOTHING like a Labradoodle. Speaking of CCR, does anyone else here have one?
Well, Cochise is an aussie.
So far I have heard "mixed with what???, Aussie's are only black and white" That was about my favorite so far.
I have also heard dalmatian, catahoula leopard dog, sheltie (he's already too big for that), husky, and border collie.
I have to say that I wish if people didn't know what he was they would just politely guess rather than make silly comments such as the one up above, or "Aussie's don't come in that color" or "well he's a funny looking Aussie."
Rex
A couple people have asked if he was a Border Collie, but no Rex has no tail ;)
He has been mistaken for a Mini Aussie.
Just the other day someone asked what kind of 'mix' he was!? Than I told them that he was a purebred. Then, the lady goes..."ooh he is, a purebred springer spaniel"? I kinda laughed and said No an Australian Shepherd!!
Most of my other dogs have been said they look like a Wolf.
Someone has said Angel kinda looks like a German Shepherd.
Thats really all I can think of right now! :)
I guess because of the black on her muzzle, I thought she must have some GSD in her. does she? She's beautiful! All your dogs are.Quote:

The only breed that Chester has ever been mistaken for is a GSD..."You're a funny looking GSD pup!" And one time, this man came up to Chester, and started talking to him "Oh you poor thing, you got your ears cropped!" I wonder what breed he though he was lol.
People at dog shows often ask if my weim is a grey lab, and my vizsla is a redbone coonhound or a ridgeback
