I'd LOVE to come, only problem is, my mom thinks people on the internet don't know my name or age or have seen my picture and that I just go on PT for the pictures and dog breed games. My dad (In Iowa) however, has no problem with it. My mom said as a matter of fact she'd never let me meet anyone from online but she was ok with we meeting Lexie at IKC because it was such a huge public place and because we'd be going anyway. I'll see if I can work something out. I have always wanted to see the south more than I have (Dallas and Arkansas) and my dad enjoys driving on long road trips with me. Perhaps I can convince him that there is a lot of good snake country down there. Brianna, are there swamps? He always talks about wanting to catch snakes in the swamps.
OOh I just looked at a map. I had no clue east TN is so close to Virginia! We went there on vacation this spring break and it took a LONG day's driving to get there, I loved Ohio. Mapquest says that Knoxville is 9 hours from my house. Not bad at all, considering my dad and I drove 12 hours. It's supposed to be 13 hours from my dad's house to Knoxville.
Eva it would be GREAT to meet you, and hopefully Nino! I don't think they're any swamps.. just a bunch of rivers and creeks and crap. XD So you're about 11 hours from my hometown if you're 9 hours from Knoxville o_O.Quote:

Okay, so.. I think we can do the one in the Summer at Gatlinburg.. but I think my mom's coming with me ;__;. Anyways, for this November, I'm pretty sure I can come, and I'll be bringing Lily with me. I'll just need directions and such from you, Lex. I'll get there somehow, even if I have to take a bus.. :o. Soo.. Cabins for 07 sound good? Any better suggestions?
My mom will probably end up coming too. My mom's really cool though ;)
I'd love to stay in a cabin. Maybe we can rent a big one and share it or try to find some within the same area?

I hope you guys enjoy The Meet, sorry but theres no way I'll make it either.... :(
Yeah, if my mom comes, please don't anybody mention anything about all the things on here.. She doesn't know half the discussions and she would murder me =x.Quote:

LOL! Actually, I live in Johnson City, but since everybody else wants to go to Gatlinburg, I don't mind having a little vacation :D
Bri, can you do me a favor and keep me and Sassy there in spirit? :D
Oh, and take pics. ;)
Aw, Alyssa.. I promise we'll meet someday ;).Quote:

i just probably won't get another show dog before then. no one needs me o handle any dogs that weekend either. once my fiance and i move in together i'll have another show dog. ;)
Too bad you still couldn't drive to Knoxville :/
OK, so I'm a little slow at responding, but my folks are just across the line in VA, so I could make it down there for a meeting too. Love to meet some of y'all face to face (and for the canines, nose to tail, right? :p --not my cup of tea, but you know how it is). Keep us posted as to your choice of final location/date and I'll do my best to get Belle and myself there. :D
YAY! :D Anybody have any better ideas or ideas on where we can stay, and exactly when we're going to have this? November is getting near if we're having one then..Quote:

(I think someone mentioned a dog park over there?)
Who's actually going to set up the meeting? He/she should get a head count on who can come for sure on whichever weekend is chosen, and then check rates/room availability, etc and let the rest of us know how much it will cost, etc. (No, I'm not volunteering :D )
I definitely am uncomfortable with one huge cabin for everybody to stay in...if we go to a hotel and each have our own room for us and our pet, at least we can lock the doors if one of you turns out to be a total slime-bag predator (not that I'm accusing anyone, but better safe than sorry).
Hmm.. good thought. I guess I'll be arranging it since I'm a Tennesseean myself.. :p. The only problem with a hotel is I don't think Roxy would be allowed, and my mom definitely wouldn't allow her. So it might just be Lily, my mom, and I. So does anybody know dates, times? I need to start checking around and knowing how many people can definitely come..Quote:

Thanks for taking on the responsibility of getting us organized; it'll probably take some effort :p
I don't think any weekends in November will be a conflict for me, but I think it would be wise to try for earlier in the month, since all those outlet malls will be CRAZY as Thanksgiving sales start approaching. I would prefer not to deal with the traffic around there during Christmas shopping season, but whatever you guys decide, I'll try to be there.
I don't know if I can do November anymore. My mom needs a new car badly, so ours won't make it to Pigeon Forge. I'll have to ask her and see what I can do.. It would HAVE to be a weekend, because otherwise I have school, so maybe a Friday, Saturday, and we leave early Sunday or something? Of course we can't do Thanksgiving weekend.. and then.. hmm... I'll just have to check the calendar. If you know you're definitely coming, please list so here, along with the number of dogs or other animals you are bringing. I'll probably only be bringing Lily along with my mom. I really need an exact number soon so I can email the hotel and check out the prices. Sooo..?Quote:

I guess we'll just have to brave the Thanksgiving to Christmas shopping season craziness or wait until after New Year's (I don't think you all want to wait that long, though).
I am also in near-desperate need of a new ve-hickle :) but have to wait for the title on the joint-owned SUV to be put in my name before I can sign off on the trade. Hopefully will have one by the time we have our meeting. As long as finances hold out and gas doesn't double in price (or anything else unforeseen happens), we'll be there. (As they say, as long as the creek don't rise and the cows don't get out.) LOL
Okay :D. So who else is def. coming? I'll have to talk to my mom about when exactly we can come, but I need to check out the pricing before I make any final decisions.
Ohhh, I just saw this!! I wish I could come!!! PM meeee, to figure out how far apart we are!! Maybe theres a chance we could go to TN for a mini-trip :)
so obviously we didn't make it to the dog show in Nov. i'll DEFINATLY be at the Summer '07 meeting! There is no way in hell i'm missing it!
joanofark, i live in southern Indiana. if you live close then i'd be more than happy to ride together! :D i'll PM you.
The summer of 07' meeting sounds a little more do-able for me. I've only got about 2 1/2 weeks left til my due date.. Can't wait for this little girl to come OUT!
Robin's mother passed away on the 22nd of September and the rest of her family has gone nuts so we wouldn't have came up there for Thanksgiving any way. We were there in September though.
I never ever updated this, but is everyone still interested in coming down here?
I am. :D
Goody. Other people..? With the net coming back to me soon, I'm going to have to look into reservations. Lex, how many will be coming with you?
2 hoomans and 2 dogs.Quote:

So where exactly is the town? and which month? Summer or Nov?
There will be 3 hoomans and 2 dogs with us (unless we have another foster) and of course the 2 birds
Haha... you can swim at least... I'm a walkin' my way. :pQuote:

Hi all
just came across this post and wanted to let you know there is a Lodge in Gatlinburg called Bradley's Court that is pet friendly and quite affordable at $55 night, its at light #6, I stayed there once last spring with my 2 newfs. oh and I'm about 15 min from Knoxville or ~ an hour from Pigeon Forge :)
I have relatives in Athens which is near Knoxville. Don't know if I could get some time off or not but it would be fun. I know Dasher would love the road trip. Something to think about.
Ooh, yay! People are wanting to come. -dances- It would be in Pigeon Forge.. I don't know what dog friendly places we could visit, but I'm sure someone can come up with something? I'm pretty sure my mom says it's okay, and Lily is definitely coming with me. Just have to convince mom Roxy needs to come, too :).
So, the list so far..
Hoomans - 7 (you can add the names if you want)
Those are the humans that have definitely decided on coming, right? If I missed you, just copy and paste into the nxt post and add your name.
Then, it will be..
Dogs - 9 definite, probably 10
