Bobo - When I was little me and my mom somehow came up with that name, not sure why lol. I was only 4 or 5.
Kalypso - From Pirates of the Carribbean.
Akima - Got it from my own crazy brain...has japanese meaning.
Midnight Masquerade (if I still name him that) - I always wanted to name my first horse masquerade because I love opera and the thought of masquerades:)
Little Guy - When I got him in my tank he was very tiny and had been through alot yet still survived.
Hugs - When I got him, he just looked like he needed a hug. He was so skinny and weak.
And I think that is all.
-
Dogs:
Baby was already named when we got her.
Mercy was also already named when we got her.
Deebo got his name from a 2 yr. old. We went to pick him up and the little girl that we were babysitting came with us.. She kept calling him "Beebo", so we just changed the "B" to a "D" and that's how he got his name. His full name is "Sir Deebo Jose' Hall"
Ava was the name we had picked out for a solid white english bulldog we were going to get, but we didn't end up getting her.. Well Ava came into our lives, and she is solid white too, so we just decided to name her that instead.. Her name is actually Ava Claire. :)
Nevada's breeder has a theme going with the names of her pit bulls.. Her mom's name is Harrah, and her dad's name is Cash.. (Get the theme?), so I decided to name our baby Nevada. Her full name is "Harrah's Las Vegas Showgirl".
Shane is named after his daddy. Him and his dad look so much alike, that the only name we could really come up to fit him was Shane.. Robin picked his name out and at first I didn't like it, but it fits him for sure now.
His dad's name is Shane, and his moms name is Lil Bit. So we named him Lil Shane.. I don't want to give his full name because it has the kennel name in front of it.
Gryfin: I really don't know how I came up with the name.. I just thought of it and it seems to fit him.. His full name is "Sir Gryfin Maxwell Hall"
Cats:
Carson was named when we got her.. We adopted her from animal control. She was an owner surrender.
Jack is an orange kitten that was dumped off at our friends house. Since it its getting closer to Halloween, Robin named him Jack for "Jack O' Lantern".

I thought I had already replied here, but guess not
Angel~Maltese/Pomeranian Mix) She was my brother's dog at first, but then he gave her to me. He named her Angel because he said she was like a little angel :)
Gretta~Toy Poodle) My mom use to have a really good friend named Gretta that she use to go to school with and she loved the name so that's what she named out little dog.
Sadie~Great Pyrenees) I've always loved this name and have wanted to name our next dog this!
Ivory~Cockatoo) Ivory was already named when we got him.
Peaches~ on the side of his face the orange spots looked like peaches to me
Sunny~ My brother named her Sunny Delight so we just call her sunny
Cosmo~ I don't know why...we just thought of the name and liked it...
Mango~ same thing as with Peaches.
All cockatiels....
Reese~Goat) I had a baby duck that I had named Reese, but he only lived a few days so I got Reese right after the duck died and named him after the duck :)
Cadbury~Rabbit) I thought that would be an awesome name for a rabbit !!!!!
Jasmine~
Storm~
Samson~
all cats :D
Jasmine because I named her after the lion on the movie 'second hand lions.'
Storm my mom just named him that but I like to think it's after Storm on 'X-Men'
and Samson just because that sounded like a tough strong name and we liked it
We also have 21 ducks and they all have names too but it's too many to think about and write down right now!!!!
-
Brownie (R.I.P.) - She was "my" dog when I was younger, around 5 or so, and she was brown. Go figure.
Blackie - he is black. LOL My brother and I wanted to call him Shadow or something else, but my mom said, "I had a dog named Blackie growing up, why don't we name him that?" and so it was.
Rose - I named her after Brownie. Brownie would always climb up onto our porch through our rose bush, so that became Rose's name.
Chloe- we had had her for three days and were still calling her "puppy". That was probably going to be her name until my Aunt suggested, "What about Chloe? She looks like a Chloe." Everyone liked it, so that was that. Come to find out, her sister was also named Chloe, although my Chloe is much cuter. :)
Rush - My dad said the only way we were going to keep him was if he was able to name him....so Rush was named afer Rush Limbal(sp).
Pheobe - My mom wanted to name Chloe Pheobe, and so when we decided we didn't want to call Pheobe her original name, Loupe, I said, "What about Pheobe?" My mom loved the idea. We've now decided we should have named her "killer".
Joey - His parents' names were Jasper and Jazmene(sp), so I wanted something that either had to go with stones or began with a "J". He is quite the character, and all of the Joeys I know were goofballs, so the name just stuck. My brother calls him "Ricky Bobbie".
Casey Nukpana - I named her Casey because it means "viligant in war" and she is a very viligant Fert. Nukpana means "evil" in a Native American language, and even though she is the sweetest little girl, I think it suits her. LOL
Dameon Michael - I wanted a name that would go with Casey, and Dameon is one of my favorite names. It also fits because off of the movie "Omen" (I think), the anit-Christ's name is Dameon. LOL Michael just fit with the Dameon part.
Lucy - her original owners hadn't given her a name, and much to my dismay my sister wanted to call her Lucy. I had no say in the matter because when I talked about changing it she burst into tears. So Lucy it is.
Bonnnie and Clyde (R.I.P.) - My friend bought them and named them Bonnie and Clyde, although they thankfully were both girl. Clyde has since passed on, and Bonnie is slowly declining. They are/were sweet hammies.
Freddie - I was in charge of caring for him for two weeks before Christmas (he was a gift to my younger sister) and I just couldn't let him remain nameless. He looked like a Freddie (or a peanut :D ) and there was a TV character named Freddie who was funny.
Tobias - That has always been a favorite name of mine, so when my brother didn't know what to call his Gerbil, I threw that out there and he loved it.
-
it appreas I have a few to add to my list lol
Sass and Kat because my city has all the "brother" stores AKA no petstore in my city carries female gerbils, Sasaktoon has the "Sister" stores, so they only carry females. we wanted some females, so we went all the way to SASKatoon to get them.
Jorden, he is Sass' mate, and if anyone watches Canadian Idol, one of the judges names is "Sass Jorden" well I already happend to have a Sass, and Jorden is a boys name lol we thought it would be funny, "hey its Sass Jorden babies!" :p
Rusty his old owners named him, I gather because of his colour. they got him from there naighbor(who didnt want him anymore), and at that time his name was "Cujo". they didnt like that lol
Electra I havent a clue, he co-owner named her. I could have changed it, but I thought it fit.

Trisst
Sim-Sim:(Siamese cat) I have no clue why we named her this. My dad says it had to have a S in its name because cats hear that noise better (do they?) and maybe cause my old cat (who died) was Simi.
Petal: (half-Siamese black cat)Hint-we have black roses in our garden.she came from a set of 4 (sim-sim's kittens). Peek-a-boo,Minnie,Viper and Petal. We gave them all away xept petal.
Leopard:(Salamander) Cause hes got funny shaped spots all over him.
Opal,Owdie and Ollie-Twitch,nibbles and Wizzer: (Hamsters) My brother was teaching me car names at the time and i just liked the sound of them.Ollie cause its been one of my favourite words since i was 5.The other 3 are my brothers. Twitch and nibbles cause they're hamsters (what do hamsters do ? ) and wizzer cause it peed on his hand first time he picked it up!!!
Lorry and Mercedes: (Budgies) When we got Lorry my brother declared it was his and he named him Lorry.Dont ask why its a crazy name! Then when we got Mercedes i thought it would be fun to name him after a veicle too. We had a Ferry and a Jet but they died.
Ruffles: (canary) My favourite chips(which are yellow like him)
Shark:(fish)He looks like one!!!
Squirtle and Blastoise: (turtles) What can i say. My brother named them that!!!one is big the other small.
-

Tinny (Tin Tin) - She came named.

Nemo (baby little fish) - Just because he is the baby of the tank.
No name fish - I just call the other fish 'little dudes' LOL.
-
Rosa got her name because when she was first learning to walk (she only has 3 legs) she fell into a rose bush and i thought rosie would be a good name but it was quite a common name so i decided rosa
dylan got his name before we got him my sister was adamant she was going to name him so she chose dylan
-
My two are Shadow and Shannon.
Shadow got his name from shadowing me since he is my service dog.
Shannon got hers when she was registered so I kept her name.
-
Frisk: Believe it or not, this chunk of a dog was once very active when he was young. He was "Frisky" =D
Donovan: Named after the singer, of course! Also partially named after Don Lafontaine. Ah, two great people.
Indie: Hehe, no, her name isn't a shortened form of Indian(she is an Indian Ringneck). Instead, its derived from music she likes. On the ride home from her breeder(4-5 hour ride) we played a cd of a local indie artist at some point. Thats the first time she really began to chirp along with the music. She has good taste. :)
Lilly: Already named when we adopted her. I'm assuming lilies are white, or atleast can be white, and thats possibly how she got her name.
Gir: Originally named Ariel. Yeeeeh, it didn't go over too well with the family and she didn't even answer to it. On the car ride home(a 2-3 hour drive) my sister said that she would always chirp along with the doom song from Invader Zim. Needless to say, she was named after Gir from that show. :]
Khaith, Venny, Ophelia, Garber, Pocky, Mason, Akio, Greggory, Larry, Jill, etc.: were either named before we recieved them or they don't have a meaning behing them.
-
Dogs:
Autumn-she was born in Autumn and I picked the name before I even met her
Wallace-came with the name and it stuck "Wawwy"

Tuesday-we found her on a Tuesday, my sister calls her Kayleigh as a version of Callie (calico), but since I've been paying for her vet bills and taking care of her, she's become my cat, hence Tuesday

Depot-Home depot racing
Jumper-haven't found a better name for the suicidal fish
Bob-pond snail, common snail-common name

Mr. Snake = He actually had a real name for a while, my son named him after some Pokemon or Dragonball Z character. I could never remember it, and as my son got older, he forgot, too. So, now he's just Mr. Snake, because, well, he's a snake.
Keito = My sister and I were eating taquitos, trying to think of a name for him. She said, sarcastically, "Oh just call him taquito." I said, "Well, maybe Quito, but change the spelling, since he's an Asian breed, not a Mexican one. There you go.
Vanilla = She was a foster that wasn't supposed to stay. Her name was Priscilla, but I know a very odd woman named Priscilla, and I just couldn't call her that. I told my son to think of something that sounded like Priscilla, so it would be easy for her. He said, "Hmmm ... Chinchilla?" No. "Hmmm ... Vanilla?" Perfect, for a white dog. Then she stayed.
Pepper = already named when I got her. Never liked it, but that had been her name for six years.
Georgie = already named when I got him. Don't really like it, but somehow it fits him.
Lucky = already named when I got her. Her registered named is Lucky Lady Down the River or something like that. It fits her.
Sequoia = My son named her. Guess he just liked the name.
Aspen = My stepson also had to have a "tree" name when my son named Sequoia. Monkey see, monkey do. ;)
Karma = the latest addition. See here for Karma's story.

OMG with all my seperate posts, I forgot Rook!
Snake:
Rook- she is a Checkered garter, so I wanted something that would work with the checkerboard pattern, and I couldn't use Checkers cuz it was already taken. then I thought of Chess but I didnt like the name "chess" so I started looking into the names of the peices, the one that stuck was "Rook"

My dogs names are Buffy, she is a Chihuahua, I named her Buffy after "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", hoping that she would be as tough as Buffy is.
I now own Little Bit, my mother's dog, my mother had to go into a nursing home, and I promised her I would take care of her dog, Little Bit. So anyway Little Bit now belongs to me. She is also a chihuahua.
Grover is a tortie cat, I named her Grover because that's what my grandchildren wanted to name her. She is the one that was found in a trashcan when she was just 2 wks old. She is very dear to me.
Oscar is a siamese cat, I got him from a woman that had two other just like him, but he just seemed like the one for me, even if he was so very wild! I don't why I named him Oscar.
Charlie is my Cockatiel, I named him after a wild bird I raised.
Mario is my Capuchin Monkey. He was already named when we got him. We really love him a lot. He has done so many things to make us laugh.
That is all.
Willie :)

Let see...
Duke was named by a guy I dated years ago. The agreement was if I got to pick the breed of dog he got to name it. He had happy memories of a dog named Duke from when he was a boy.
Champ, well that is my hubby's doing. She definitely should have been given the name FuFu or something like that because she does not like to get her feet wet. I think the only thing she is champ of is DROOLING.
Chopper needed a cool biker name because he rides our Harley with us. I posted on here for name suggestions and Taz_Zoe thought of the name Chopper for me and it fit.
We have koi,
one named Piglet because from the moment we got her she ate everything. That then got the Pooh theme going so the other Roo, Kanga, Eeyore, Pooh and Christopher Robin.
Two shubunkins, one use to have a bit dot on her forehead so she was named Dottie and her friend ended up Lottie.
My beta is named Visine because his fins are white and have red streaks so my son thought he looked like a blood shot eye.
My son's beta is named Animal from the muppets because his color kind of reminded me of Animal's hair.

Well ... My cat's "proper" name is Cashmere. She's all grey, with grey whiskers, except for a white spot about the size of a quarter on her right hip. When I told my parents I had found a cat I wanted to adopt, my mom was wearing her new coat - the fabric is part cashmere, so that's where that came from. I was trying to come up with a musical name for her but couldn't think of anything I especially liked. So she became Cassie, which led to Cassie Cat, Cassie Kitty, Cassie Lassie, Cassie Molassie, Boo-Boo Kitty (after Shirley's cat on "Laverne and Shirley"), and my sister calls her Cookie Puss. My other name choice for her was Pepper ... sometimes I think that would have been better.
-
Kai: Shortly after I found out we were getting a Sheltie puppy, I went on a camping trip with my highschool. I was trying to come up with names. A few of names on my list were Chip (chocolate chip since he was a brown/sable color), Zeke, Blaze (the white blaze on his face). While I was at camp, I had a camp leader named Kai-tech. I thought it was a fantastic name so I picked Kai!
Kaedyn: We adopted Kaedyn from the shelter. His name was originally Milo. He didn't respond to it, and we hated to name. I also had a feeling he had an abusive past based on what I saw, so I didn't want him associating his name with bad things. I remember I was at a family dinner trying to think of names with my brother. I remember saying "Cajun? No. Cayden?" We already had a "K" name for our other Sheltie, so I wanted to stick with a K theme. I've always liked unique names too, so Cayden=Kaedyn.
Keeva: I wasn't sure if I wanted to stick with the K theme for the third dog. It was a toss up between Nevaeh, Havoc and Keeva. Nevaeh because it's "Heaven" backwards, and I'd be able to register her as "Stairway to Heaven" (I'm a huge Zeppelin fan). She didn't look like a Nevaeh though. I was thinking about naming her Havoc because well, Malinois create total havoc. They're chaotic dogs so Havoc seemed fitting. However, I already know a Malinois named Havoc.. it also seemed more like a male name.
-
Reggie: I think my mom named her after my uncle Reggie
Little Bit: I named him that because, obviously, hes little. Smaller than my other 2 gerbils before him.
-
Baby was already named when we got her.
Mercy was already named when we got her.
Nevada got her name because her moms name is Harrah. Which is a casino.. So we went with the theme.. Her registered name is "Harrah's Las Vegas Showgirl" and her call name is Nevada.
Shane is named after his dad. His name is Shane and his moms name is Lil Bit.. So his registered name is KennelName' RE Lil Shane.
Deebo was named by a 2-3 yr. old. We were babysitting when we went to pick him up and the little girl kept calling him "Beebo".. I don't know where she came up with that, but I just changed the B to a D and that's how he got his name.
Gryfin isn't named after anything special. The name just came to me and it seems to fit him. His registered name is "Sir Gryfin Maxwell Hall".
-
Josie: From a book I was reading at the time...can't remember the book now...
Zeke: TV show Tour of Duty
Kiba: A tv show Wolf's Rain (kiba was a wolf. means fang)
Butter: I couldn't find a fitting name for him. I "named" him Shadow because he follows me everywhere, and he's black...but I call him Butter...which just seems to fit him even though I don't think it's a suitable name for a Black male cat?? lol
-
For some reason I thought I'd already posted on this thread, but I guess not. Must have been a similar thread.
Anyway, I named Taz because I like the Tasmanian Devil from Warner Bros cartoons. That's fairly simple and boring isn't it? :)
When we got Zoee I went online to search for names. As I was going through the alphabet I got to Cali. We really liked that and Bruce tried it out on her. We almost stopped there and I said - should I just keep going to see what else there is? So I kept going and we also really like Sophie. So for about 15 minutes he tried out the names Cali, Sophie and Zoee on her. We decided Zoee was it. And Bruce decided on the spelling. Which turned out to be perfect since the breeder had used the double e's on the whole litter. Zoee's name was originally Bonee.
-
I need to update my list a little bit.....
Brick- We were origonally calling him Burn, but I kept calling him Brock and somewhere Brick came into play.
Cherry- My dad's rabbit, but he got the name from one of his favorite songs.
Meat & Cleaver- The rats. My friend and I were just thinking up random names and they kinda stuck.
FT, Rhed, and Nameless The chickens. Well, FT is actually short for a couple foul words. :o Rhed is what I call every Rhode Island Red I've ever had. Too hard to tell them apart sometimes so they are all Rhed. Nameless I got a few weeks ago. Can't find a name for her for nothin. So she's just chicken.
I think that's all my pet changes since my last post.
