I'm really sorry that I didn't manage to get any pictures on last night myself. It was not my intention to send everyone to bed without pics. :D I know what it's like when you are eagerly awaiting updates!
The day before Sara arrived, Samantha took it upon herself to make sure that everything was up to scratch.

I think auntie Sara will be comfortable enough

Really mum, I think you're making too much of this. I'm helping!

All done. What's the next task?

I picked Sara up from the airport on Friday morning. It was a lovely sunny day, so we took a run up to the distillery that I posted about before, where Towser used to live. Glenturret
When they were "interviewing" for a distillery cat, they could not decide between Dylan and Brooke, so they took both. The last time I was at the distillery (with Vio), we saw Dylan.

On Friday we met Brooke.

It would seem that Brooke does not like to look directly at the camera. :D We didn't see Dylan this time. I think they work shifts.
On the way back home we visited Stirling Castle which is built on a rock and dominates the surrounding landscape, but I don't have a good picture of it. Perhaps Sara took one. This was the only one I took and it was more aimed at the flowers than the building.

Saturday was also a beautiful day so we drove up the side of Loch Lomond and over to Inverary, where there is a garden to visit. The garden is old, but was only restored and opened to the public four years ago. It is not a formal garden, it is intended to look like a highland glen (valley).

Gunnera is a plant with giant leaves that thrives in damp shady conditions. It has a most unusual flower.

Sunday was a horrible day, so we headed for Edinburgh hoping the weather might be better over there. It wasn't. We visited the decommissioned Royal Yacht, which is berthed at Leith, Edinburgh's port.
I'm holding the handset for the commentary, not a weapon!

It really wasn't a nice day!

Just before we took this picture, a couple walked passed us eating ice creams! We didn't indulge.
Monday was a beautiful day again, but rather than any more sightseeing, we decided to go shopping! We had a very successful day in Glasgow. If only I had thought to take pictures of our purchases, I could have posted them! :D
I am sooo sad I couldn't be with you!
I'm missing Scotland!
And you never took me to Glenturret :D
And I want to know EVERYTHING you have been shopping in Glasgow :D
Wonderful pictures Karen. :)

Sara, you look sooooo cold in this one. Must be that California blood. ;) :p Looks like typical Vancouver weather to me.
Karen, just wonderful pictures. Sara, you DO look cold!
I am jealous too - the gardens are wonderful. The cala lillies are unbelievable. I have never seen any quite that large.
Sara, jet lag is the pitts - give yourself some time to readjust to the time change - and then we will be hounding you for your pictures.
Thanks for posting the pictures, they're really good!
Glad you got to see so many places - the garden looks wonderful! I take it you went inside the castle? What a fantastic building!
I see Sara is down on her knees for Brooke, he seems to be quite the hunter ... love that picture in the grass. :)
Although the weather was bad on the sunday, you seemed to have a lot of fun anyway. :D
A shopping trip in Glasgow? That must have benn quite the experience - did Sara understand anything they said? LOL! (I'm thinking of Rab C. Nesbitt)
Ps. You can still take pictures of the your purchases and post them. ;)
And now .... we're waiting for Sara's pictures and story!
Make sure Sara sleeps before saying something like that to her :p :DQuote:

Speaking of Karen and Alec....they get the host and hostess with the mostess award. I had a most wonderful time. Karen filled you in on what we did and saw. It would take too long to describe what we ate and drank. Here are some photos.....
If you ask nicely you may get a front shot (or a Harley t-shirt.... ;) )

a work in progress....here's my album...Scotland Album
And the shopping. Thankfully I was only traveling with a carry-on bags. I could have spent a fortune. The fashions in Glasgow!!!!! The only diffiuclty....the sizing. It is larger. So, let's say... a US or Canada size 10...is a 12 there.
Now excuse me while I go cut some labels out.....
Of course, I went to see your album immediately, Sara. Great pictures! Love the one of Samantha - what a face she puts on!! LOL! Mickey looks like a real cutie. :)
What a fantastic scenery in the area, and that hunting lodge!! Wow! It would be perfect for a PT get together. I take it "The two bridges" is a typical pub - so cosy. :)
Love your garden, Karen, lots of space to relax in the sun - when it's out! ;)
I see you got welcomed by two curious cats, Sara. Another hat for Edwina's collection. LOL!
So tell me, did you manage to tell who was who? (Sam, Daisy and Jessica)
Yeah, pictures!!!
Looks like a wonderful time was had by all! The gardens look lovely and Brooke is an absolute doll!
I'm also wondering if now that you've seen the gray girls in person if it's easier for you to tell them apart? ;)
Off to the album! :D
Samantha has a white stripe on her shoulders, Daisy has a nick in her ear and Jessica (who I saw the least) is more plush! :D :D :DQuote:

Oh thanks for all the pics! It seems you have very good time! :)
Karen the pictures of Samantha made me laugh so much! What a good inspector you have! :D
I would also love to visit Glenturret...I don't know why
Sara, what did you do to Sam so that she looks at you so badly  Did not bring her favorite treats? Pulled your camera out? Made her some shadow may be? :D
She says, "How dare you point that thing at me!! ;) LOL! Or perhaps Sara had a hat ready for Samantha. :eek:Quote:

That Mickey, he's such a handsome boy!
I think you took Sam by surprise here - did you take this picture from the window? She has a very pretty furcoat :)

:D That's an excellent photo you got of sweet Samantha!
