Great butt pics! We havent had the greatest snow here, its the come/go/warm days & the next day would be really cold :rolleyes: .... Its just crazy! But I actually think I will use the sled today! :D ;)

Really great pictures! I was not exactly looking at the butts :) but the surrounding scenery is gorgeous - you're lucky to live up in that area !

Disney always does movies different than the reality....that's what people want to see! There is a movie about the same incident that is more realistic. It's called Antarctica. It's hard to find, but worth watching if you can get a hold of it.

The husky rescues I work with are already trying to prepare for the influx of 9 month old puppies(the most common age for huskies to get dumped.) Thank Goodness Eskimo dogs are rare and unsuitable as a family pet!

Hmmm, I can't get the link to work, but I heard about the Disney movie recently. Sadly, many people will just want a "snowdog", not really caring if it's exactly the same breed or not. I can't get over how many little kids run up to us wanting to pet the "snowdogs", and it's been years since that Disney flick came out. Bless the husky Rescues, let's hope there aren't too many "casualties" after this movie.

Dogs were banned from Antarctica in 1992 due to concerns about the seal population.

I can't count how many times some little kid has been convinced Earle is actually "demon" from Snow Dogs!

I had no idea. Typical Disney..covering up stuff with roses. The ad really had me going. I guess like 101 Dalmatians, you will have an influx of unwanted Huskies. That's too bad and too sad. :(

There was an increase after Snow Dogs and I expect there will be again. One of the groups I work with is going to theatres after the movie and handing out a "So you think you want a husky" leaflet. Complete with pics of huskies escaping, running away, digging and destroying a couch! Maybe that will help some people think twice.

I heard a couple more things about the movie today. They actually used some rescued dogs!

This lady does amazing work and I think it's pretty cool that they did use a couple rescued dogs. Maybe that will help some of the dogs already in rescue waiting for homes.

I also got an email from someone who saw an advanced screening. She said it was terribly depressing and not to go without a large box of kleenex!

Tamara, I am so glad to hear that someone is handing out leaflets at that movie! I only wish they did that with 101 / 102 Dalmatians ...... I know that the breeder I got my 2 from, he is based in Canberra - and all the breeders did not breed for the entire year when that movie was released.

And how sweet that they used rescue dogs in the movie.

When I first saw trailers for '8 Below', I thought some of the dogs looked like the ones used in 'Snow Dogs'. I always know Disney waters down the true story. I'll see it anyway and I'll be sure to spread the message that huskies aren't for everyone.

I'll look into 'Antartica' too.
