Well Peterson is staying at the vet's office over night. He still is not sure what is the matter with him. While he does have some of the symptoms of FIP, he can not be absolutley sure that that is what is the matter with him. He wants to keep him, give him IV fluids, and antibiotics. He kept all of the paper work she has ever had about his health including the x-rays that were taken yesterday at the emergency clinic so he can really study his case tonight. He said that if he isn't any better by tomorrow, he may send him to another vet in the area and get some ultrasounds.. No really sure what he is searching for but hopefully he will get to the bottom of it soon. I will keep you all posted.

Kas,
I have four kitties but never heard of this jaundice
problem before. I'm glad the vet is keeping him overnite
so he can stay hydrated. Prayers and good wishes for
your kitty. Is is name Peterson ? That's a great name.
-
Yes the vet wants to get him hydrated and wants to keep a close eye on him. My daughter has to call tomorrow afternoon to see how he is and if the doc knows what this "virus" is. yes, he was already named Peterson when we went to pick him out at a pet adoption clinic at Pet Smart 2 years ago this August. He is the most affection, docile, loveable cat. Compared to what he was when he was six weeks old, what a change in his personality. He was a devil as a kitten but now he is just a big lug who is just so loveable and squeezable and he lets you do it.

Any word on how Peterson is doing?:(

Peterson is still holding his own. He is still with the vet, on iv antibiotics and fluids. The feline leukemia and the FIV both came back as negative but the FIP test will not be back until tomorrow. So we still don't have a diagnosis but at least he is still with us and hanging on. WE are praying for him to recover an be back with us soon.

OOH, the not knowing is the worst! :( Been there. Please know that we are praying for you, your family and Peterson. Please Hang in there and be strong Peterson.

The update today was good news. the FIP tets came back negative. The vet is really stumped. He is sending him to a specialist tomorrow for an ultrasound. When my 9 year old granddaughter heard that she was taken back. She said, he is a boy, he CAN"T be preganant. Guess she doesn't know that they do ultrasounds for other reasons than pregnancy. Anyway, so far, he is the same and is still hanging on with us. Keep praying everyone, we really appreciate it.

Prayers are on the way for Peterson and all of you. It's so hard not knowing what is wrong, I know.

{{{Peterson}}}
Prayers for Peterson and all of you undergoing the agony of just not knowing what's wrong.
Fingers and paws are crossed here that he's feeling better in no time.

jaundice kitty
My prayers are with you too kas. I hope Peterson recovers soon. I know what you're going through because it happened to me last year. For about four months, my cat Pepper was sick off and on and went through many tests and was finally diagnosed with megacolon. He's a happy, healthy cat today. You can have a happy ending too :D just like me.

Paws are tightly crossed and good wishes and positive thoughts are coming your way Peterson, from Mr. B and Oliver!!! We'll be praying for you and precious Peterson today kas. Hopefully you will get an answer soon! Hugs.....Sandra, Mr. B and Oliver

Well Peterson is home but not a definate diagnosis yet. She took him to a specialist today who at first thought it was lymphoma but after the ultrasound and looking at his blood work, and xrays he wasn't so sure. so they shaved his belly and did an ultrasound. His liver is very very hard so the new vet took 3 biopsies of his liver and will have the pathology report on Saturday. He gave my daughter his card with his home phone to call and get the results. In the meantime, he is on steriods plus 2 other meds and they have to get him to eat even if it means force feeding him. the vet said he could eat anything as long as they get some food into him. He loves tapioca pudding and yogurt so he did eat about 2 spoonsful of pudding this afternoon. If need be, they may have to put in a feeding tube until he starts eating again. I was over to see him just a little while ago and he has lost a lot of weight (but he could afford to lose it, he was very big). Ohter than than, he looks good and seemed to be comfortable. he was using his scratching post. It is so good to have him back home but so far since Sunday, she has paid the 3 vets almost $900. Thanks for all the prayers. Everyone has been asking about him, so I wanted to let you all know that he is doing ok for right now. lets just pray that he will continue to get better and stronger and back to his normal self. As the vet said, he is so young to be having all these problems.

Peterson will stay on my prayer list. It's good he is home now. Please, keep us posted.

Good News...the pathology came back negative so Peterson does not have liver cancer. The oncologist feels that it is fatty liver disease. He said to keep force feeding him for a week, continue the medications that he gave him and to call the regular vet on Monday to see how long he wants her to force feed him until they think they should put in a feeding tube. her feeling is that if she can get the food into him with force feeding why put in a feeding tube. The doctor today said this could go on for 2 weeks or it could be 3 months. But he does feel that he will recover. We are praying he will anyway. Looking at him today, he is so thin. He is a big cat and now we can feel his back bone. also today even inside of his ears are yellow but the important thing is that he doesn't have anything as fatal as cancer, FIV, FIP or leukemia. Keep praying for him.
