Sorry you had to spend the holiday at the vet Glacier. With all those dogs I guess the odds of something happening are greatly increased. It seems no one can handle these things better than you can. I hope Pacer is recovering nicely. Do you now have to seperate any of the dogs because of this? I can't imagine how you guys handle these situations so well. What are the chances of another fight starting in the future? This is coming from a person who gets upset when two chihuahuas look at each other wrong  I'm hoping everything is calm and all the doggies are happy with each other from now on :) Never a dull moment at your place huh?
We won't separate them permanantly, but Pacer is getting his own pen. He'll be in there with Chum and maybe Franklin. Frankie gets picked on occasionally too. Chum and Pacer are very good friends. Chum is also a bit of a trouble maker with Heyoka so it will reduce tensions if he is in a pen for the day. They will all still sleep inside and be in the main yard when someone is out to supervise them. Heyoka seems to be starting most of the trouble lately so we've taken to tying him up when no one is home. (his choice, he could go in a pen, but he hates being fenced and freaks out)Quote:

All things considered, especially the sheer number of dogs we have, they get along pretty well. Fights are actually pretty rare. The only way to eliminate them completely would be to treat them like most sled dogs and chain them all up, but I don't want to do that.
Aww Poor Pacer! Glad he's doing better:) and sorry you had to spend Thanksgiving like that:(
