What I meant was, maybe your vet could tell you about someobdy else close to you that might charge less? If I had the same issue that you're hvaing and i aked my vet he'd let me know of cheaper (reputable) place...Quote:

There are always long lines for this, that start at midnight the night before..sigh..cnat do that one..they only do 60 cats and 40 dogs on the free day..

Keep an eye out for low cost spay/neuter clinics and weeks. There's only two vets in your area? :eek: There's at least 15 here lol. Did your mom ask the Humane Society where they get there's done? Could they recommend a place that does it cheaper?
And remember-$280 is a lot cheaper than a litter of puppies, or a surgery for a problem associated with unspayed dogs.
You'd be surprised, a male dog can smella female dog in heat for MILES. Another dog could hop the fence into your yard & mate with her. Male dogs will go to extremes to get to a female dog in heat, they will bite & chew through things, jump over things, they do what ever they can to get her. I would NEVER EVER leave an in heat female dog alone where there is even the slightest chance of her getting pregnant.Quote:

thank you everyone. if i was the one who was paying for the spay, of course i would get her spayed. but it is not my decision, and i am tired of trying to convince my mom to get her spayed for 280 dollars. and that doesnt even count for any of the pain pills, testing, and some other things you should do before and after the spay. i will ask my mom soon to call the st. cloud humane society. shes sick right now, so i wont ask her until shes better. thanks again :)
The vets should still do the 'surgical' procedure though, shouldn't they? :confused:
Yes, calling the Humane Society is just to get a referral for vets they know who do a low-cost spay, or that have a payment program available.
