cat kneeding

Awwwwwww thanks Jen.

Last night he was making me crazy. Seems he was on a "feeding" schedule! Every few hours he would hop up on the bed grab the PJ and start kneading and pulling at the top. I am guessing that the material in his mouth is representing nursing?
Do you think this will keep up or lessen as time goes by?

I feel like I have a baby again! :) When I try and turn over or move he lets me know that he is NOT Happy and MEOWS! Then hops off the bed and goes back to sleep....only to come back in a few hours.

He's a mess. The other Boys look at him like what is with you?

LOL I have heard before that the kneading goes back to when they were kittens, they knead around their mom's nipple to make the milk come out, and if they do it to you it means that they think you are their mother. I don't know that for sure, I think I read it in a cat magazine or something. He probably feels very secure with you. I don't know if that will lessen or not. My Belle kneads me quite a bit, then lays on me, but if I roll over or anything she'll get up and leave, and usually come back in a few minutes. She started out as a sick stray, so maybe that has something to do with it. I don't know Katie's background, we got her at a shelter when she was 10 weeks old, but she usually kneads the bed. Sometimes my hubby, but she loves when the blanket on the bed is bunched up, so she gets upset when I make the bed. They kind of take over, don't they? :D

You fur children and mine sound alor alike.
I volunteer for our local NO KILL SPCA, and have adopted all of our children from there. I only adopt adults as the kittens are adopted very quickly.

When "Morgan" was brought tot he SPCA the animal control warden said that they were on their way to a Kill shelter to euthanize him, but were hoping that the shelter would take him instead. Thank God in heaven Susan took him in. His leg was broken in 5 places. The Director's husband paid out of his own pocket to send him to a specialist in Richmond. The original was found and called. He told the staff that he didn't time for a cat and keep him. HIs loss. My gain. I fell in love with him the moment I Laid eyes on him. He was hobbling around on his cast. The staff named him Lnacelot. But When we adopted him I htought it was too many syllables. I asked our daughter for a suggestion. She said well he has a limp and is blind in one eye.. what about MORGAN. I said as in CAPTAIN MORGAN? She said Yeah! So it stuck. Named after our daughter's favorite Rum.

He has been with us since March, but still sticks pretty close to me. He loves to be hugged and kissed. When we go out and come back he runs and greets us.

How blest can we be to have adopted 4 fur children that were literally thrown away? I have priceless treasures.

That is so sweet! Sometimes it's the animal that no one seems to want, or that is injured and has no one to take care of them, that makes the best pets. I have a dog (Roscoe) and two cats (Katie & Belle). Katie and Roscoe came from the shelter, Belle was abandoned by her mom and left on a friend's porch with her two brothers. She was only a few weeks old, she fit in the palm of my hand. It was love at first sight. But we knew that she needed a friend, so we went to the shelter to look for another kitten about her size and age. There was Katie, she was 10 weeks old; the lady at the shelter told me that she bit and scratched everyone and that no one would take her. When my hubby picked her up, she went crazy, biting and scratching and twisting. He fell in love with her though. As soon as we got her home, she became a docile and loving cat. I could pet her for hours and she just purrs and purrs. Roscoe is our newest addition, we went in to Petsmart for cat litter on the day that the local shelter had animals to adopt there, and we both fell completely in love with him. So we went for cat litter and left with a dog! We did remember the litter though. It's funny how animals 'pick' us!

Belle was really sick when we got her too. I was so worried. She had kitty lice and was really constipated. She was very determined though!

I, like you firmly believe that they choose us.For me.. it's like I just KNOW that thisis the fur child that willbe my new son or daughter.

Clayton (Tuxedo) had been left on the door step of the shelter in a Rubbermaid container with his mother and sister. The Staff named him CLAYTON. I went down and never saw him. They said he stays in his pillowcase all the time. He was traumatized by being shoved ina Rubbermaid container....I still CANNOT put him in a carrier. he freaks out. I just put his leash on him and he sits on my my lap like a little man.

Anyway... I went down several times....and then one day there he was...OUT of his pillowcase.. sitting up looking right at me. I took him out of his kennel and he sat in my lap and rolled on his back for a tummy rub. The staff was floored. When I asked about his name. Susan said he looked like a CLAYTON.... I said that's pretty weird... guess he'll have to comehome with me. You see CLAYTON was my Grandmother's MAIDEN name.

They know when the right pet parent walks in the door. They know which one is the one for them. They DO choose us... and I am so thankful for that.

Wow, that's weird! It was meant to be. I can't believe someone put the poor thing in a rubbermaid! That's so cruel. He sounds like he has a good home now at least.

Belle is part calico, but she look like she has some tabby or something in her too. She has an interesting look.

Yup. THREE adults in a Rubbermaid container. CLayton, His Momma and his sister. All thankfully have been adopted and al are in loving homes.

Morgan was in a kneading frenzy at night. He does this for what seems like HOURS at a time! I am going to get that boy a tread mill!

Rotten child!:) I am thinking that this is his routine now.. and we all know how cats love a set routine. it's ok Momma doesn't need any sleep!

Yes. and it was November. They were dropped off and left overnight. THey were terrified and very cold. That's why I can't put Clayton in any kind of container.

I have TONS of pictures of the fur children... but I don't know how to post them.

Poor things, I wouldn't want to be in a carrier of any kind either! That's just so cruel...

When I post pictures, I just attach them. When you are typing the reply/new thread, go to the bottom right before 'submit reply' there's an 'attach file' box. Click on browse and find the pictures, then click 'open'. you can only do one per post though. I'm not entirely sure how to put the pics directly in the message, I think you have to use photoshop or something like it, but I don't know how. You can ask that in general or something.
