What a cutie! My sisters and I were infants when we took our first swim in the lake. Mom dunked us under for just a few seconds. Babies somehow know how to hold their breath. Well, we did at least. I love the water and I think that is why. :D
Oldest son Bryan and I took "lessons" at the Y when he was but a few months old. We had to blow into their face, which causes them to take a breath and also teaches them to "blow" - and then dunked them:eek: YES it was scary but I felt OK doing it with the instructor there. Eventually, we would just toss them into the water to another mommy!! I know Bryan would just happily wiggle to the surface of the water :D I think I would be too nervous to try it on my own too! But - Bryan is a super swimmer now!! It really is important I think, to teach little ones to be safe around water - great when such lessons are available - though likely not there at Japan.
