Any luck?
not at all !! I just dont know how to find these cats a home... all my friends that like cats already have their cats... Im at my wits end with this dilemna.
This really sucks, I wish I could help you. :( I think it sucks that your mom can't keep them. But, if the tables were turned and she was getting rid of her dogs because they didn't like her cats, it would be just as upsetting to a lot of people in here. I don't know y'all's situation, but, I usually tend to give people the benefit of the doubt. I mean, you're obviously pet lovers or you wouldn't even be putting this effort into rehoming them. You would have just taken them straight to the pound or something. I mean, it's disappointing that the animals don't get along, and, as long as everything has been tried as far as teaching them to get along, then, this sounds like the last resort. But, if it's the difference between the cats living in a bedroom with dogs in the house that don't like them, and, finding them a home where they can roam around, undisturbed, then, I think you're doing the right thing. What kind of dogs are they, anyway?
Pembroke Welsh Corgis - they are in hte :herding" group... and they try to herd the cats... its really a mess that needs to be resolved. Ive seen alot of sarcastic comments on some of the threads I posred... what people dont understand is she can NOT keep the cats... that simple !
Thanks for your support, Finn

Don't take them too personally. If you all have done everything you can to make the situation better, than your conscience is clear and you have nothing to worry about. If not, there's such a thing as karma. Folks just don't like to see people give up on pets, that's all. And, without knowing you personally and knowing the situation, people sometimes assume the worst. Again, even the sometimes negative remarks come from good places, for the most part. It seems as though you've done what you can, but, if the dogs are stressing the cats out, it may be the best thing to find homes for either the dogs or the cats. and, either way, you would probably get a little negativism, which is just human nature, ya know? Anyway, I wish you the best of luck, I really wish I could help you.Quote:

Well gee, maybe she should've thought of that BEFORE she adopted the cats!!Quote:

How long has your mother had the cats? And, how long has she had the dogs?
she has had the dogs some of them as many as 8 years... cats almost 4 years... this is NOT someone who wants to ABANDON her animals... she loves them all very much, but her living situation has DRASTICALLY changed and now she has many changes to complete. It is not a case of her being irresponsible... every animal she has owned as an adult herself she had until she lost them through old-age.
I had hoped that I could get some positive ideas on this web site, but seems people just want to comment on how terrible she is... I really dont need any of that negativity as we are under alot of stress over this situation.
So, I am considering this post CLOSED.... thanks to those who truly DID try to help !!

Steph - Sorry - thanks for trying. It was worth a try. Good luck and I'll talk to you on the cruise board...... Sorry again, Debbie
