Perhaps when he arrives for his visit, you and your husband could sit him down, and tell him in no uncertain terms - that if he harms one hair on one of your cats, he will be dealt with severely.
Away from his natural habitat, it's possible that you both could teach him some human kindness.

I don't know why people feel compelled to tell animal lovers things like this. I get crap like this at work all the time, and they think they're being funny. I've finally learned to just ignore and not let them know they're even bothering me. Some just don't have any sensitivity when it comes to others feelings.
Our cat Gypsy was shot through the ear and a pellet lodged between her skin and scalp. Luckily they could remove the pellet and no damage was done except entry through the ear which eventually healed. We never found out who did this to her.

My one and only hope is when he comes to stay , you can educate him and show him how to love animals, maybe you could have a very good influence on him and this would help him change his behaviour, and learn to love animals as you do, fingers and paws crossed that this might indeed be a possibilty.
