Sorry to burst your bubble, but anoles ARE great for first time reptile owners, because they are cheap and easy to keep. You can set up their tank in about ten minutes, they eat readily available insects, and don't require any difficult, complicated care. So, yes, they are great for a first time owner.Quote:

As far as them being "tamed", well, that depends on what you call tame. They can become used to you, if you relax and give the poor thing some time to adjust. But, no, a small lizard is never going to be "tame" in the sense that a dog or a bunny is tame. If you slow down and give the little guy a break, perhaps he will get used to you so that he isn't so terrified. But they are not a pet that is EVER going to come to you to be petted or ride around on your shoulder. They are just not like that. You should have done some more research on them before getting one, IMO.
A UV light is great, reptiles need a light that simulates natural sunlight. But, make sure the light is also producing HEAT - some don't. He also needs a hot place under a light to get warm, or else he won't be able to digest the food he eats.Quote:
