Bella was spayed at approximately 6 months. I'd have to go look for the cancelled check to tell you for sure. Since we have no positive idea about Ripley's real age and the vet suggested he was probably 3 when we got him in 2003, the answer for him is 3! He was neutered very shortly after coming to live with us. I would also would have to look at the checkbook to give you a real accurate answer. :)

Muffin was spay two days before we got her, at eight months.

Bob was two.
(Four years ago in September. I remember the year well because I'd given up smoking on his birthday, around six weeks before he was neutered.)

I spayed my dogs when I got them. Sarah is 6 months old and I haven't spayed her yet. She is going to have some teeth pulled and some work on her tear ducts done while she is under. I am afraid to put her under and do all that work right now because she is only 2 lbs. When she gets a little bigger, I'll spay her.

Kia was spayed at 3 years of age by the Humane Society.
-
Sadie was 6 months. All is remember was that she was really small.:)

My current dogs were both spayed/neutered as soon as I got them from the shelter, Nanook was about 8 months, Raustyk was 6 months.
I like to wait as long as possible, that is for growth & hormone & overall health. Now what I prefer is to spay a female right before her first heat. As it is healthier for them before their first heat, it would be nice to wait a little longer, as they are ussually in heat about 6 months of age but better before than after.
Males I like to wait until they are 8-12 months, depending on the breed & behavioral issues though.
6 months is the youngest I like to see.
The shelters & vets have the thought of spaying/neutering at a younger age due to overpopulation reasons correct, but as far as their overall health goes I would like to see them wait until 6 months. Unfortunatly you owners can lie & say they won't breed but you don't know that for sue, so I gues I am undecided on that issue than.

Brock was intact when he was found as a stray at about 10/11 months. They neutered him right away. It was just 2 days before chirstmas! lol
