I'm one who has spanked. I spanked like a parent - out of fear. Once Chester got out nad ran across the street, in front of a car, to the neighbors sprinkler. (He loves water) I reacted like many parents. I chased him down, tapped him on the behind, and then kissed him all over about a hundred times. I felt so bad for the spanking, but I was just so scared and freaked. I don't think I've ever done it again, though.

GOOD
I'm glad you never did it again. And you shouldn't unless the same happens...and a tinee winee tapp.No hitting...please.
I hope it was gentle and maybe I would of done the same out of fear. You love your baby,I know.
I just want to remind everyone that it hurts bad when your much bigger than them.
Think of a man hitting a woman and you'll realize.
But I know that it was a tapp and full of kisses from fear.
That's OK with me because of such fright..not punishment.
Your a good parent...don't worry;)

Usually a stern No will work but sometimes I have to clear my throat loudly. Funny but that works well too.

If they're climbing on the kitchen countertops or trying to get eat my dinner, off my plate, I will squirt them in the hiney with a little lukewarm water out of a small squirt bottle. Any truly naughty behviour will get a stern, "No," but that's rare.

Spray bottles are great for counter goers.
They worked for my 2 15year old cats when they were kittens.
None of the others go up on the counters that I got at the shelters the past 2 years. All 9 are good.Thank goodness.

Spray bottle works for us. Usually the cats just have to see it. A stern voice works with all of the critters.
