Cats are so entertaining and they don't even have to try. Just by watching their tails you can almost tell what they are looking at as they look out the window!

Lynn, my fiancee, was recently in the hospital for surgery, about a four day stay. The first night the cats went to their normal sleeping spots. The following nights, Jackson slept on Lynn's side, and Fluffy slept at the foot of our bed. Lynn's first night back she had to nudge Jackson out of his "new" spot.
I am not sure if they realized a sleeping spot was vacant and filled it, or they were keeping me from being too lonely. I would like to pick the later reason. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

I just read through all the posts on this topic and I thought they were all hilarious. I talk to my cats all the time. Here is an example of my silly behavior http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/rolleyes.gif
When I play "chase" with my cat Saima in my apartment, and she takes off in a run, I always say to her, "You come back here! I'm going to get you! You can't run away from me!" in a mock-threatening, evil villain voice. Then when I "get" her, I pick her up and give her smooches all over her face (she purrs and purrs). Also, when Saima and my second cat, Miko, start slapping paws at each other I shake my finger at each of them and say, "Stop that! Now you be nice!"

Yes, as well as "cat-talking" to all my cats, I also talk back to them in their own language. Big's meow is more like a squeak, and I have a fairly deep voice for a woman, so I usually can't copy him. But Cookie and I often "woo" to each other, and Peaches and I always "mow" to each other (she leaves the "e" out of "meow"), and Pepper seems to think my name is "Brent" because that's what it sounds like she is saying to me.

Of course my fiancee and I talk to Pesto endlessly. We figure as long as we talk to her she will talk to us, and boy does she ever!
I have convinced my father to refer to Pesto as his granddaughter, and even got my 19-yr old brother to call her his neice.
But mostly we just give her and opportunity to give input for decisions,and treat her as though she is one of us. She is very human.

I for my part will tell Simon and Kelly where I go and at what time I'll be back.
