who is sweeter male or female?

I have found with our 3 chihuahuas that although all three are sweet, Ricky (the male) is more protective of me and so I have to be careful when strangers approach me suddenly. He doesn't bite but he will do his "warning" growl.
On another note: My male was easier to potty train and has never had an accident in our home or motorhome whereas my females are more likely to go in the house if they aren't taken out immediately. I have spoken to many people who say that their females are also more likely to have an accident in the house.

I have 1 of each....male and female. My male Lhasa is definitely "the boss". He is sweet to the "selected" people he likes but.......watch out if he doesn't like you......then he has the personality of a pitbull. My female Eskie is just a pup yet and seems to get along with everyone, after she finishes barking at them for at least an hour that is! But, I gotta love em! I have no preference......I love them all.

I looked for and purchased females only in my first two Golden Retrievers. I couldn't have asked for nicer girls. :) I kept hearing and reading comments from my Golden friends that those "boyz" were extra sweet. Well, I found out, when fostering, then adopting Zipper, that they were right!!! :) The best part is that all 4 of ours get along beautifully. Zipper is the only boy, but he is a sweet heart, for sure!!! :D

I've never had a female dog, so it's hard to say!

I've met many dogs though, and haven't noticed a particular difference between genders. It seems to vary by breed, but mostly by individual personality.

I tend to find that males are alot more affectionate. When I look at the breeds I've met and compared genders, I find the males to be alot more playful and goofy, whereas the females tend to be a bit more standoff-ish and aggressive.

They are both really sweet. I have know Oscar, and he is an absolute goofball. Then there was Lucy, she was real sweet. My friend's dogs are all males. One is really hyper but cute, one is slowed down a bit but he's real cute too. Well, I could go on forever about dogs I know. But I'd have to say both are pretty sweet. If I ever got a dog, it wouldn't matter, but I am thinking male.

Males usually tend to be more family dogs while females tend to stick to a person.

Megan is totally obsessed with me and has somewhat of a seperation anxiety (she always needs to be in the same room as me..and when I went to Washington last summer she wouldn't eat for three days and was depressed the whole time I was gone), whereas Sesh and Miksy tend to like everyone in the family and have never been too bonded to just one person. Monica likes all people...she's never really had anyone that's gotten close to her. (Monica is my sister's dog but my sister is always watching TV, upstairs in my parent's room with my mom, or playing basketball.. :rolleyes: )

Just from observing my female and two males, it seems like the males are more territorial about space and females seem to be more territorial about the pack. Maddie couldn't care less about anybody coming into the yard or house, as long as they didn't threaten a pack member or get into her face. Other dogs I mean, people she loved no matter what. Murph and Oz, however, go through all kinds of male posturing over their claim on the backyard, marking every fence post and barking at anybody who passes by. Murph's not above chasing another dog from his territory, with a lot of bluster and show, but I don't really think he'd ever hurt anything. Maddie, however, means business. I was taking care of my cousin's Aussie and Murph was trying to play with him. Maddie was ignoring them both, until the Aussie snapped at Murph. Woo Boy, she lit after that Aussie, even though he was about 3 times bigger than her. After that he was scared of her and left her and Murph alone. You just do not mess with her pack.

Since Maddie seemed to have a stronger attachment to the pack, she was definitely more demonstratively affectionate to me than the boys. I came first over everything. Murph and Oz are more playful and overall friendly, less cranky than Maddie, but definitely not as affectionate, because they are more apt to be distracted from outside influences. They're just not going to spend hours laying next to me, getting petted, while I watch TV.

So I would classify my two males as sweeter and more easy going, but my Maddie was the more affectionate one.

I all depends on the dog but out of my dogs the female is much sweeter even if she is a puppy.

She might be picking up some bad habits though...

With my experience with all sorts of different animals, I think males are by far sweeter, and I enjoy them more then females over all I would say.

It really does depend on the individual dog iteself. I haven't had a female dog since I was really young, so I don't quite remember. My boys are as sweet as ever. If I compare my boys to some of the females I have met, I would say males. BUT, of course they are my dogs, and of course I would think they are sweeter. So, in the end I would say, it depends on the individual dog.

It's kinda hard for me to say.

Angus is a sweetie pie for sure, but then Huney is equally as sweet.
And as for Roxey, she can be sweet if she feels like it:p
