Snarky? I am going to have to look that one up!:D
The other side of this, 35 or 40,000 lives being snuffed, is that it has nothing to do with anyones political beliefs.
Come on, these are women, children, babies, old men, students demonstrating against the regime...an unimaginable amount of innocent life destroyed by nature. The scene in Iran is horrific to the max, and your response is shallow and what???
This is 2/3 of the lives we lost in Vietnam, 10X what 911 took...does it really matter what country it happened to?
I have Iranian friends. They are crying.
It's hard for me to comprehend such a massive loss of life.
Well put Mahayana...Quote:

It doesn't have anything to do with people's political beliefs. Theirs. Or ours.
We have a large Iranian population in Los Angeles and they are devastated by the loss of life in their homeland.
Here, we had a large earthquake and sadly two lives were lost.
We seem to measure the loss in dollars rather than lives.
I cannot fathom losing your entire family in a matter of seconds let alone losing a huge portion of the population of a city.
Very well said Mahayana!! I couldn't agree more!
It is a horribly tragic event and I grieve for the families and friends who lost loved ones and homes. I think because the area that was hit was so ancient that contributed to the huge loss of life since there was no defense.
I think Richard's point was that our government offered to send aide to the area both money and people and supplies and the Iranian government turned down the help. I don't think was meant to be a political statement, just a frustrated statement that the help was offered and it was turned down.
I hope and pray that the needed help will arrive from SOMEWHERE. Those people are suffering and need some relief. They are in my thoughts and prayers.
If I'm a victim of this disaster and my government turns down aid from other countries- I'm PISSED! I think the fact they turned down the aid is just testament to the assinine politics of the regime.

Head down to a local sports arena and count the seats.
Put a son, daughter, mother, father, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew
in each..Then you figure that for every seat there is, there's a mom and dad...
It's has nothing to do with politics.....It has to do with STUPID
people running a country..
By the way,
Iran did accept some US aid but turned down other attempts to
help the people there..
But then again,
I'd be kinda pissed that THE GREAT SATAN was trying to come into
my 'hood and make the people see what a benevolent, caring bunch of people live in the US.....
It may just offset the all the bad stuff they teach about us..
Maybe we really do suck, we stupid Americans just don't realize it.
How would I look with horns and pointy tail?
Smokin' Hot Richard. Smokin' Hot.Quote:

Iran didn't refuse all US Aid, just the aid which came with an official delegation. In other words, we'll take your money, we just don't want any american presence to stir up the moderates any more than neccesary. There are US relief workers in Iran, (civilian and military), but Liddy Dole was too much for them to handle.
You mean you don't already HAVE horns and a pointy tail? ;)Quote:
