since I have high maintenence hair, I go every 7 weeks for cut and color. I value my relationship with my hairdresser like that to family:eek: Changing hairdressers is terrifying to me. It takes a few visits for you to get in a groove with one another but when you do, there's no sense in changing. A good hair dresser is priceless to me. I tried one of those $15 places once and will NEVER do that again!!!
I think popcorn answered all the threading questions. Threading works on anything. Another interesting thing about brows: if your brows have gotten thin over the years, try rogaine on them. It works!:D
I get my hair trimmed about 2 or 3 times a year. Just depends. And I color my hair about every 2 months. I need to get it trimmed again here soon.
Last year I got it cut really short. I could have kicked myself in the butt. It looked horrible:o It wasn't the hair dressers fault really. She done a good job. I just didn't think my hair was going to be short as it was. Its just now a little below my shoulders.
I don't go the hairdressers. I have long hair and from time to time I just flip it over my head and give it the old scissors chop. Works great.
I'm cheap so I usually just cut my own hair. It's been over a year since I last went to the hairdresser.

I actually don't go very often... maybe 4 or 5 times a year. I just went last Friday (spent nearly 4 hours there getting a cut, foil and style :eek: ).
I've been going to this stylist for at least 4 years. I love her. We have that stereotypical gossipy hairdresser/customer relationship and I love it! She's so funny and sweet, we always have a good time. And she does an AMAZING job. She did my hair for my senior portraits (took nearly 6 HOURS!! ... I have A LOT of hair... :p) and all my up-dos for all the high school dances I went to. (She actually hated doing updos and refused to do them for anyone else besides me. I'm special ;)).
Before Roberta, my current stylist, I did have some bad experiences. It just never seemed to turn out the way I wanted. One time I went to this lady to have her put some highlights in my hair. She did the highlights, but then for some reason decided to put my hair up in a very strange way. LOL. I can't think of how to describe it. It was just odd... Kind of like a pony tail, but flipped nearly over my forehead :confused: I didn't ask her put it up, but I guess she felt the need to. And she used a regular rubber band so when I got home and went to take it out it was sticking to my hair because of all the hairspray she put on it. So, I had to cut the thing out. *sigh* At least it wasn't a horrible cut... the lady was just a little odd.

My neighbor is also my stylist. Her shop is about 10 min. away but in a pinch I have been known to go to her house. I go every 6 weeks. I find that if I wear my hair short, as I do now, I have to - otherwise it loses its shape. I do my own coloring. She told me what they use in the shop and I go to the beauty supply store and buy it there. Save me a bundle and I can sit with that goop on my head in the privacy of my own home. :D
I agree totally with what someone else said about breaking in a new stylist. It is a very scary thing indeed. You never know if you have communicated properly what it is that you want done and sometimes they just "do their own thing" anyway and it's not at all what you had in mind. Fran can practically cut my hair in her sleep now, because she's been doing it so long. :)
I only go to the hairdresser twice a year - June and December. In between I trim the fringe myself, and use a semi-permanent colour to cover the grey hair!
I also get my hands and feet painted with HENNA every December before I go on vacation.
And PCB / Tonya / Soladad / Cataholic - I LOVE having my eyebrows threaded too. I have very thick heavy brows, and it works great. (They also do my upper lip - but don't tell anyone!)
PCB - I am dying to learn how to do it myself!
Interesting topic. I just got back and normally I am very happy with what I've had done but today am very disappointed. I took a pic in of the color I wanted, bold reddish auburn with gold highlights. Well, you can barely see the red at all, just looks like my normal, dark brown hair. Just bugs me because I had the pic and she didn't even come close! Maybe she was afraid I wouldn't like it or something. I'm just really disappointed and now I've got to wait about 6 weeks before I can get it colored again.

Well, I'm a hairdresser and I hate to hear the horror stories. But there are a lot of bad hairdressers out there. :eek:
I get my hair cut about once every three months and color every four weeks.
I wish clients would listen to me when I advise them against something. That's usually when I have problems with clients not liking their hair.
I'm a color specialist so I don't cut hair at all in the salon. My prices start at $65 for an all over color and go up from there.

Usually when something goes wrong, it's because they've lied to me about what's on their hair. Sun In is bad!

I personally wouldn't dare do it myself to shape my eyebrows. My lady does it so quickly and so well. I'd probably accidently take my whole eyebrow off in one swipe. lol.
I had never gone very often until lately. As most of you know I got my hair done just a while back. I'm getting it done again on my birthday. The dye faded away almost completely after one wash, so I'm going to get it done darker this time so maybe it will stay longer. I also need to get it relayered. I was surprised to see how fast hair grows after such a big cut! :eek:
Bad experiences:
When I was in grade 2, all of the girls were getting mushroom cuts. Naturally goin' with the flow, I wanted one too. My hairdresser started to give me a mushroom cut...then she realized my hair was too curly. I wound up with a buzz cut! :eek: I think my dad hated it the most. People would say "What a cute boy you have" and he'd get so mad and embarassed. And with a name like Jordan, no wonder you'd get confused!
