Well I cannot speak for Wellington, but in Hamilton all the high schools have uniforms, outta school well yep the fashion is just the same here as in USA.
Most High Schools in NZ have uniforms soledad, I guess wellington must be an exception then.:)

Wellington High School does not have uniforms and I've seen some real doozies at that place.
Well my opinion stay's the same for their school as well, digusting that the school has no dress code, shame on you Wellington High.
Dogz, I agree with you as well. No, I wouldn't I'd allow my 15 year old to dress provocatively. But, I don't have a 15 year old. I think it is ultimatly up to parents to teach their children things. So, I'll make sure my kids do what I think is best, and I won't spend too much time worrying about other kids and things that I can't control.Quote:

you are correct....the parents buy the kids clothes and get totally ticked off when the choll sends them home to change....

Later, I felt guilty for thinking that the kid looked like a hooker.........until i heard a woman I worked with go off and say that she was dressed like a streetwalker (insert slang term there)...

Excellent points Richard. Yes, the parents get ticked off when we call and have to bring different clothes (although, usually we make them put their gym clothes on....eeewwww a fate worse than death! lol ;) ) and most of the time the parents are dressed the same sleazy way....hmmmm.....the apple doesn't fall far from the tree? I like to send the boys down who have their pants around their ankles and the aide in Student Services puts duct tape around the hips of the pants to hold up them up....it's hysterical to watch!!
I'm the same way Richard, if my parents didn't want me wearing something, it didn't get worn. And they decided what I would wear too since they were buying. Now, I got to choose, but if they didn't think it was appropriate, it didn't get bought! lol Unfortunately, too many parents today are either afraid of their kids or want to be their best buddy and that just doesn't get it.
That's a good point also mugsy. I know how some moms just want to be their kid's best friend, and be all goody-good with their childrens friends. I personally think that mothers should be mothers- if you know what I am saying. Of course the parents have to do something with the way some kids dress.Quote:

Buying tops for my 12-year-old daughter is a problem - it is increasingly difficult to find tops that aren't too baggy but still long enough to cover her middle. The stores here (granted, small town in rural Kansas) just don't carry many tops that fit properly.
Yes, I buy the clothes and can veto anything inappropriate, but I am limited by what the stores carry. Believe me, I've complained to Sears, JCPenney and Old Navy. I've also complained at shoe stores about not carrying flat dress shoes in children's sizes (why anyone would put high heels on a six year old for anything other than a joke, I'm not sure).
But when my 17yo daughter is telling the 12yo that she doesn't meet school dress code, because her middle is showing, I think I might be getting through to both of them.

LOL I remember I always had the opposite problem with my mom. I have always prefered wearing mens shorts because they are longer. It seems that all the shorts that are made for girls are so short! Now I'm not saying that my mom wanted me to dress sexy or anything like that just a little more feminine. But I hate how girls short are always so short, I like my shorts to be slighly above the knee anything shorter than that I constantly have to tug on them when I sit down because I feel like everything is showing. But I remember my sister wearing "sexy" clothes when she was younger however now they would be considered modest clothing and my father would make her change and say she couldn't leave the house if she didn't change. We weren't allowed to wear a tank top unless we had another shirt on top of it.

Personally, I find thongs to be very comfortable and they eliminate panty lines which I find very very disgusting. BUT, my underwear don't show so nobody knows what I'm sporting.
Have you tried a second hand store, like Value Village? When you go to one store, chances are that the clothes they make are very alike, to assert that "these are OUR clothes that WE make." When you go to a second hand store, there are so many different types of clothes from different stores, that you're likely to find a variety and something that looks good. :)Quote:
