That is the kind of comment that makes people want to leave. The "Pet Talk of Old" didn't have people who would post such a careless comment. Time to add another name to the ignore list. :rolleyes:Quote:

I'm personally getting tired of hearing about how horrible the young posters are! Folks, it seems y'all are taking your frustrations out on the teens because of what one teen (?) has done. I'll be honest, sometimes they get on my nerves, too. But you can't discount the fact that they love their pets as much as you do and want to be here to discuss them. There are many youngsters here that I value and would hate to see leave. There are others (of all ages) that I'd rather not interact with. I simply avoid those people. If you don't want to read the posts that have nothing to do with pets, then don't come to General or the Doghouse.
I don't think many adults are acting very adult either. BTW - I'm 35.
Sasvermont - You're right, your comment was cruel. Calling the young posters morons makes me question your maturity level.
I'm still a newbie but I've seen bad times and good times already. I've made some wonderful friends and am thankful for that.
I hope you'll decide to come back one day, we'll miss you and the kids.:(
And micki, I agree with you. It seems like so many people dislike the teens and yes I'll admit there are a few that I try to avoid but it has nothing to do with age but the person/posts itself. There are many teens that I admire especially Kfamr (hope you don't mind me mentioning you kayann :D). She is probably the most mature teen I've ever run across. There are many more teens here that I find mature. Pet talk wouldn't be the same without them. Anyways, I don't want this to turn into a debate so I'll close by saying, we'll miss you and the kids dearly.
I can understand your wanting to leave. It is a heartbreaking thing for everyone what happened here. :( Everyone will be sad that you have left. I will miss hearing about your furbabies.
However, I am also very offended that people seem to be taking this out on the teenagers of Pet Talk. Wasn't everybody a teenager at one point? Don't they know how it feels to be bashed by a statement? One that tells us that we are really "children" and not young adults? I am almost 16 years old. Yes, a teenager. And no, I don't think in any way, that I have caused this certain commotion, nor any others in the past.
Jordan
Wolfsoul I think that all teenagers are being given a bad rap for the actions of a few. I was surprised when I found out that many of the teens here were, in fact, teens. Some of you (including yourself) are very mature and have interesting things to say. I think what is bothering us "older folks" is the rudeness that some of the teens have shown to others and in some instances to each other. Age is not the issue here in my opinion but maturity. As others have said, KayAnn is young but also very mature. There are others like her too. Hope that helps. :)
:)
Leslie, I don't post much anymore either, mostly because Pet Talk has become too big. We used to be able to get to know everybody on the board and keep up with what is happening with their fur kids. Now that is impossible. It is a similar shock as it would be to move from a small town to a large city. It's not that I don't enjoy meeting new people, I do, but it's impossible to get to know everybody. Most people here don't know who I am either. Sometimes I feel like a lost soul just wondering around among a group of strangers.
Pet Talk brought me one of my greatest joys and that was getting to know you and to meet you and Graham in the flesh. I hate to think of not being able to read your posts and keep up with what is happening with your furkids. :(
I have to say I also have been pleasantly suprised to find some threads are written by young folks, there are some very intelligent, mature young individuals on pet -talk, and yes we were all young once, so need to keep that in mind I think.
I think everyone has a contribution to make here, be it big or small in one way or another, and it is only a very small minority who don't.
Sorry that you are leaving, hope you find that you can come back soon, as I am sure you will be missed very much.
Leslie, the thing that bothers me about you leaving is the reason behind it. While you are entitled to do what you wish, it has ramifications. By leaving, you are one less person to 'fight' for what PT is/was. By leaving, you are one more voice of reason gone. By leaving, you are one more validation that PT has changed. That stinks. While I know not everyone has the same level of comfort with confrontation that I have, you leave those of us behind to do the job alone. Without you. And, yes, that is a choice you make, and maybe you feel that it isn't your job to help bring it around to something fun, loving, exciting, and nice again, I disagree. PT is for/about us. Karen has said so many times. WE are what makes PT. If you don't like what it is, help change it.
Those that stand for nothing, fall for everything. I hope you will reconsider your decision, and help make things better.

I was thinking the same thing. If you and others leave, because
of a few bad apples, than they have won. :(
As for young vs old. We all make up our beloved Pet Talk
and in my opinion one of the best detectives on
finding out bad apples is KayAnn. :)
lol, it's not like I can convince her otherwise. I'm just saying goodbye to her. lol. :rolleyes:Quote:

But that kind of post leads to a good point - if you are going to post something that slight, why not just PM her?Quote:

Always THINK before you post, type it, read it and think about it fopr a minute before you post anything - see if it will have meaning for more than one person, if not, PM it!
Thanks veryone for mentioning me as one of the "mature" ones. I have my *immature* times though.
Leslie,
I really hope you decide to come back. Pet Talk wouldn't be the same without you and your crew. Every one of your babies is so special to me and I really enjoy hearing about them. I'm so happy I finally got to meet you and my favorite boy. I hope to meet uour kitties one day!
I'm sorry to see you go. Hopefully pet talk will be back to the same old pet talk soon.
::sigh:: This thread definitly makes me sad, seeing one of the long time members leave and to find out that some people aren't as happy to have me here as I'm happy to be here.I also want to apoligize for bothering anyone, I didn't mean to, honestly.
