Big T sounds like Big J (my Big J). *sigh*
AWWWW :(
Poor little baby cat!! He looks so scared in those pictures. I wish big T.. would let you keep him..... but big E (Eric) is the same way...
I hope you can find him the best home ever... he looks so sweet!! give him a big hug for me.
I just saw this thread.
When you said you didn't know if it was a boy or girl, I said: Oooh, just let me see a picture.
My immediate response was: Male
Then I considered it again, but decided to stay with: Male.
(it was the best picture that convinced me)
I know I have NO proof to my divinations. Because it was revealed shortly after that he is a boy.
(I like to play the gender guessing game with the COTD)
Anyway, he looks so sweet and grateful to you.
Thanks for helping out a boy.
;)
What a sweetheart. He reminds me of a grey version of Sara's Jupiter - he has a similar energy and nice posture about him :)
Maybe you can just keep him at home until he's adopted, which might be never, right??? ;)
Oh He is Gorgeous!!!
If Tubby and Peanut don't mind, can't you use the old," but honey, once you have 2, you won't even notice 3?????"
He is a Looker!!!!
My thought for a name would be
Izzy....Is He or Isn't He?!?! Only his Vetrinarian knows for sure!!!!;) :) :D
We are Both showing our age if you also remember that commercial!!!!;)
Debbie, he's gorgeous. :D I sure hope that he'll be able to find a good home. I wish you could keep him. I think you should call him Sterling. :)
He is very handsome, I hope you find him a great home.
He is Gorgeous!!!
Good luck will keep you in my thoughts!
Good Luck Debbie - he's one wonderful furboy isn't he? What an adorable face with a lovely pink nose - ah!
I know just what you mean with Big T - Big D's the same - 'Three cats are enough for anyone ' - I keep telling him I'm NOT anyone - he just doesn't listen!
I reckon being very sneaky and taking 'Braveheart' home for the week-end as PIF suggested - may be the way to do it!!
I'm keeping all fingers crossed here (and there are three cats walking about with paws entwined!!) for a really good result.
Lynne
LOL. You'll talk him around one day and when you do, I call for photos (A small truck worth)Quote:

Me & PaysForIt have the opposite problem, we encourage each other too much (in regards to specific cats not just to HAVE another)
In fact the only sticking point was Treacle. i.e. Three is our limit. Once you get past three cats, introductions get very easy and what does one more matter.
By THIS point you are known as the mad cat people and people start asking you about helping them with their cat problems. This is how we found out about Bramble's Mum & siblings.
He's very very very handsome!
I would not be able to resist and take him home at least for a try.
Thanks everyone. :D
After I took him to the vet yesterday, he hid the rest of the afternoon. This morning when I came in, his food was gone and he had used the litter box, but he was still hiding under the draft table. I gave him some fresh food and water, talked to him for a bit and reached under the table to pet him. He started purring as soon as I touched him, but wouldn't come out. After about 1/2 hour or so, he eventually crept out, took a nice long drink and
came out by me for a bit. He is now back under the draft table, but looks much more relaxed. I'm sure he'll soon realize that he's safe and come out for good - although I don't mind that he's under the table because then I don't have to worry about him getting out when my boss comes and goes - which is something I'm going to have to figure out when he comes out for good.
I've gotten a total of 3 responses so far to my emails to rescue groups. One offered to put him on their website and Petfinder. I am also willing to transport him up to a few hundred miles if necessary, which will hopefully help in getting him adopted.
So many good suggestions for names. I've been calling him Dirty Paws because his paws are dirty (real original, I know  ) but this morning I came up with Dirty Harry because he is dirty and I have to wash my hands after everytime I pet him, and he is shedding like crazy! The vet said that cats "throw their hair" when they're stressed, so I'm thinking that's why he seems to be losing so much. Isn't Dirty Harry the one that said "Go ahead, make my day" ? This kitty could really "make someone's day" because he is just such a sweety pie. :D
I would like to give him a bath, but he seemed upset after the vet trip - like he didn't trust me anymore - so I'm going to hold off on the bath thing - and hopefully he'll start cleaning himself up a bit now that he's inside.
I actually got to work way early this morning because I was worried about him. I had all these horrible visions in my mind of things that could have happened to him overnight, and if/when my boss came in and he got out. Thankfully he was under the drafting table - right where I left him. :)
I've tried Wayne's way of testing kitties by touching their paws, and he has no problem with that. In fact, when I touch his paws his pushes his head into my hand and wants more and more attention. :D
He is such a sweet guy that I'm sure we'll find a good home for him soon.
Oh, and another new face! Sky, welcome to your furrever home. Can't wait to hear the whole story about how you joined the "weather" home of kittyland. ;) :D
We went on our after dinner walk last night. (They are always easier to deal with once fed.) I said...."Pettalk Debbie found a cat." That is all we have talked about since then (alright...a little bit about my job situation, but that is another story.)
Don even woke me up this morning talking about Eduardo (he doesn't like the name Butch either.) Back and forth, back and forth. We asked Edwina for her input but she was silent.
That is the only concern. She is such a princess -- how would she accept another cat???? Oh how I wish I knew the answer!
How big is Eduardo? Don thought he looked rather large in the photo. (I.E. could Edwina beat him up or would he beat up Edwina?)
Also, did you call the folks at Red Door? (They are still working on the expansion by the way and haven't had the Open House yet.) They are at Western and Lunt.
E's S, there one way to find out the answer. She may be a princess, but, who knows, maybe Eduardo is a prince, Edwina's prince?
How I wish this could happen!!!
OMG, Sara! That would be sooo wonderful if you could take him. He's 11 lbs right now. He seems to be big boned, and will probably gain some weight once he is fed on a regular basis, but somehow I get the feeling that Edwina would put him in his place within the first few hours, and that will be the end of that. ;) :D He seems to be real meek, but that could be because he is still scared. He has been hiding under the drafting table all morning. I finally coaxed him out for a little bit while my boss was here (first time my boss has seen him other than hiding). Eduardo warmed up to me, and when my boss knelt down, Eddie rubbed all over him, but as soon as my boss stood up, poor Eddie ran back under the table - scared. :( It's amazing to me that he survived on the streets at all. Everytime he is out, he slinks real low like he's ready to run everytime he hears a loud noise. And the noises are all street noises, which you would think he'd be familiar with.Quote:

I did send the Red Door people an email, haven't heard back from them yet. I've heard from Another Chance Pet Rescue - Elmhurst, Felines, Inc. - Chicago, Harmony House for Cats - Chicago, and Wright Way Rescue - Chicago. I do understand that most of the rescue orgs are inundated with unwanted pets so I'm not surprised I haven't heard from more of them, but I just emailed them yesterday too, so I'm surprised I've already received these 4 replies.
And as for Edwina accepting Eduardo, well, like Vio & Juni says, how will you know until you try? ;) :) If you wanted to, I could drop him off Friday evening on my way home and you could do a "test run" over the weekend. If it looks like it'll work out, he can stay (?) and if not, I'll pick him up either Monday on my way to work or Monday evening depending on your hours. If it doesn't work out, Edwina will think it's just another irritating visitor (like her doggie buddies ;) ) and get over it real quick, and if it works out, we'll have Princess Edwina and Prince Eduardo to dote over here at PT. :D
However, seeing as he seems to be rather shy/scared, if I bring him Friday evening, you might not see him all weekend and Edwina won't even know he's there. ;) :D
It would be so wonderful if you could take him, but please know that I'm not trying to pressure you in anyway and I would understand completely if you decided against it....but if you ask anybody here at PT, Edwina definitely needs a friend, right everybody? (no pressure, yeah right!) ;) :D
