Bastet can't eat petmeat for that reason because she will chronically (more than twice a day) vomit. It scared me the first time she did that because I thought she was bleeding internally!
We had a mad vet rush and he said that its an alergy to petmeat and to keep her on a diet of chicken and rice for a week. She only vomits if that same preservative is in whatever she is eating. It is usually in processed meats that we eat.
I think you are doing the right thing by going to the vets it could be a blockage as well. Did he go potty at the rescue centre or did he hold it all in? If he held it in it might have compacted and formed a big poop lump in his tum which would give him diaroehha as well. I saw this a lot with kitty's at the rescue centre I volunteered here for a while.
I am sure Micah will be ok.
She may be allergic to nitrites. That's what's used in meats.
