My landlord is a saint!! When I decided to move to the midwest, I looked at all kinds of apartments. Most of the big complexes required cats to be declawed!  There was no way I was doing that to my babies. My SIL is the one who found the place I'm in now. It's HUGE (1200 sq. ft.) and Zeff (my landlord) loves my cats. He knows I take care of them. Can't ask for anything better ;)

My husband was talking to his dad about our change in policy and commented "maybe we should require that the cats be declawed"... then he saw me glaring at him and said, "well, I guess not".
I would NEVER EVER require someone to declaw their cat.

I've had problems renting in the past with 'no pets' allowed. It's very common here. It's good now as Defence Housing accepts that people have pets and they do a regular inspection to make sure the house is maintained. When we move, we just need to have the carpets steam cleaned and deodorised in case of fleas.
