The vet did a test and saw no "crystals" or "sand" which are the things that block the male urethra (I'm just getting used to all of this technical talk!), so she feels really confident that we caught it in time.....
I'll keep everyone posted, so good to have support from animal lovers like myself!

I'm SO glad you took him to the vet and caught this in time! YIPPEEE Blockage is a dangerous (and expensive) thing!
We are keeping all fingers (an paws) crossed at our house that he is okay.

Antibiotics will usually clear UTI's up, especially since you caught this in time. We have a cat, Porch, who is a neighborhood stray. Someone injured him sometime in the past which has made him incontinent. Therefore we cannot keep him totally indoors. He had a serious blockage which kept him in the vet for over a week with IV's. He got it again a few months down the road and we were told he had to be on a special diet and bottled water. Well this is not so easy since we cannot control his diet when he is outdoors. So far he has not had another bout of this. I'm sure your cat will be fine now that he's being treated. Good luck and let us know how he's doing. I'm glad you were able to find out and treat Bailey's problem. Unfortunately, alot of times, unknowing owners assume it is a behavioral problem. It is a cat's only way of communicating that a problem exists. I hope he's well soon.
My daughter Amy had a cat, years ago, who peed in her father and stepmother's laundry basket. Instead of taking her to the vet to find out what was wrong, they took the cat to the humane society while my daughter was staying at my house :mad: :mad: She has never forgiven them for it. THAT was a classic sign of stupid, STUPID people. Amy was heartbroken. I got her a kitten and kept Callie at my house until my daughter moved into her own place.
Another thing that I found very interesting: My dog Ceebers about 3 nights ago, went up to bailey and started "sniffing" him down there.....I think he sensed that something was wrong with his new furry brother in the house...that was my first clue that something was wrong. I think its amazing how animals hear, smell, and communcate to us in ways that are so very special..

I'm very glad you took him to the vet. These things can happen so fast and sometimes be fatal if not looked after!

I am glad you caught the UTI soon. The antibiotics should certainly do the trick. Can't wait for him to be all better.
I am so glad he's on a good way now. Up to now I only had experience with behavioral problems if it came to peeing. But this website has the experience of a hundred cat owners.

I've somehow missed this, but I'm glad to hear you took him to the vet and he has treatment. :) It's far from all cats who develop a serious case of UTI, but it's always a good idea to keep an eye on it.

Boy, am I ever familiar with UTI!!! Speckles had about 5 of them within the first 2 years I had her. Antibiotics will fix him up OK. Get well Bailey.

Meow everyone, my name is Bailey (Bailey Boo Boo is what my momma calls me, cuz sometimes I just "boo boo")
Anyways, I'm at home tryin' to pee...I sit and sit in my box and nuthing will come out! I have no idea, but I am trying so hard. My momma has been givin' me this GROSS tasting liquid and has changed my food....I miss my old yummy stuff, and thank goodness my sister Libby gets the same food too! Meow Meow..
Momma watches me every minute, next time maybe I'll just tap her on the shoulder when I have to go and she watch and see it happen for herself!! I hate to see my momma worry.
I think I'll give her a "head-butt" now to show her how much I love her!

Poor little guy! I'm glad you caught it and that he's on meds to make him all better. :)

I am so glad that you took Bailey into see the vet. Both of you will be much happier once the UTI is cleared up. If he is still having problems when the anti-biotics are finished take him back. When I first got Emily we went through 3 courses of anti-biotics before the UTI cleared up. But we haven't had any problems since them :)
I woke up this morning to Bailey pawing at my nose, meowing. I was so nervous because I thought something was wrong. I have been to the vet 3 days in a row now just to make sure he is okay...they said that he was doing just fine.
Anyway, I followed him downstairs to his box, he hopped right in and went potty like I'd never seen before!!! He was so proud of himself that he covered it and almost covered the entire litter area!
It was so special for him to want to show me that he is feeling better!
Today is a great day for Bailey, that's for sure!
