there is 3 shelties that live on my street they are really annoying, all they do is bark.
FOXY IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SHELTIE I HAVE SEEN. I HAVE A FEMALE, HER NAME IS JESSE, SHE IS ALMOST 14 MONTHS OLD. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A MALE SO THAT SHE CAN BE BRED. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO FIND A MALE PUP TO RAISE AND THEN BREED. I WISH I COULD FIND ONE LIKE YOUR FOXY:)
No sheltie here, but i have a collie! Shes a rough, sable and white female, named Molly! Oh, and we cant forget my gorgeous golden retriever Daisy!:D :D Both were very easy to train, but Molly sure barks alot!:)
Yea...well that can be a problem. Shelties are known to be barkers and when you have 3, they tend to bark more. Kai barks at everything that passes by the house. He just sits in front of the balcony door all day watching people pass by. He doesn't bark when people pass him while i walk him though...odd :SQuote:

Thats right Shelties are barkers but the good thing is that they don't attack. Foxy barks at every one that goes past but ones a person gets in through the gate he just wants to plays
I think my sheltie is mutant! He's not barky at all. He never barks in the house. If somebody comes to the doors sometimes he'll make a "harrumph" noise but that's about it. Outdoors he'll bark if he sees kids playing because he wants to join them, and he'll bark if somebody strange comes to the door but that's about it. He's huge, too! Several people have asked me if he's actually a collie. But no - all his litter mates are normal-sized shelties.
Mickey never barks unless there is a loud sudden noise or he is trying to defend himself. Like, last night there was a thunderstorm. He was barking at nothing, just running around. But other than that kind of stuff, he doesn't make a sound. He and Jake are alike in that way, stacwase :)
I found this site http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/shetlandsheepdog.htm is has alot of information for Shelties.
Teddy barks at *everything*. Like a snow flake hitting the ground or a leaf blowing by.

Jake very rarely barks indoors. If he's outside, he barks a lot at people, especially kids playing. But indoors he only barks if somebody doesn't follow his rules.
Jake's rules:
1. No running. That's great - except when we're trying to run to answer the phone he barks and tries to herd us in the opposite direction!
2. No roughousing. Then he barks, and attacks whoever is losing (I guess he figures he's better off on the winning side!)
3. No falling down - but this rule only applies to babies. If they fall (or crawl) he will bark and try to lift them up by their diaper.
4. No babies allowed to play by the staircase. If he sees babies playing by the staircase he makes himself into a living baby gate - running back and forth in front of the staircase and barking if the babies get too close!
Otherwise he only barks outdoors or when he has to go pottie or wants to go for a walk! He's an unusual Sheltie, though. If I hadn't gone to the breeder's personally and met his parents I'd swear he wasn't purebred. He's HUGE! He weighs 45 lbs, and he's not at all overweight. He's about 23 inches tall, if I remember right.
Foxy never barks inside. When he is out side he only barks when there is no one out with him.
Well maybe Jake's not so wierd then, after all!
