I scared him out of his cage using one of my hands then useing the other I put it under his chest and he hopped on my han. He stays on my hand if hes not in his cage. He only hisses when he is in him cage or on top of it.

If that's the case, then helping him gain trust shouldn't be a big deal at all. Just spend LOTS of time with him EVERYDAY. Let him play out of the cage a lot so he can gain confidence in being out of his safe cage. He'll do well hopefully! He looks like a sweetie!

give him all his favorite treats while he is OUTSIDE of his cage.... ussually really close to you or even on you. that way he would rather be with you than in his cage.;)

He sure is a cutie!! I just love cockatiels!

When I lived at home with my mom, our cockatiel really liked me. He would chirp and sing when he heard my car pull up. :) Anyway, a way to get him to trust you is to talk to him in a soft, gentle voice every day. Over time, he'll see that you are gentle and nothing to be afraid of.

Cheeko is so cute! Our Roger is similar in coloring and I adore him, even if he can get grumpy sometime too. I find that whistling his favorite tunes can help to calm him down when he gets upset with me (usually when I need him to go back in his cage).
