My cat Mau, who is a 7 year old 15 pound Siamese male, was playing with a paper shopping bag just before Christmas (the kind with handles). Unfortunately, he managed to get one of the handles around his neck and when he tried to walk away, the bag dragged behind him, making terribly loud and alarming noises. Poor Mau panicked and ran wildly around the house, my husband and I screaming and flapping in his wake (when will we learn to keep our MOUTHS SHUT!!??). Finally the paper handle tore off as Mau squeezed between an armchair and the wall and he was FREE! Now he runs like a stripe-tailed ape whenever he sees or hears a bag. NOBODY gets to play with plastic bags EVER. Happy New Year!
Hey Kittykay that happened to my Zeke too! But more than once! He didn't learn! He got a paper bag stuck (with the "chord-like" handle) around his neck once. I've nver seen him run so fast, darting here and there. He stopped under the bed, which amazingly is when the bag stopped making noise. I had a hard time getting him out from under, it's a king sized bed!
Then that happened AGAIN with a plastic bag! And one other time with someo other bag I just can't remember which. I just know it happened at least 3 times and all 3 times it ended with me crying :( and laughing :( and trying to get him out from under the bed.... I'm afraid he's going to run in sheer terror like that until he has a heart attack!! :(
