I spoke again with Irene this morning, and apparently Sekeetha was 26 years old! His late cat buddy was close to the same age when he passed.
The tumour was about 4" - the vet showed Irene where it was. No wonder the poor guy couldn't eat a lot! I had cooked up some elk burger and rice, and Sekeetha was getting a few small feedings a day; the rest went home with the owner's daughter (who was crying and wailing...I know Irene would have kept it together for her, but she is still really sensitive today).
The vet is going to their house today. He will be at his comfy home, with those who love him.
Thanks again.
Just too sad. Poor cat. I'm crying. I must keep in mind that he will not be in pain anymore. Kay
Kay - it IS sad...but given that he and his cat buddy lived well into their 20s, it seems clear that they were very loved and given the very best of care.
When I carried him around the other day I talked to him quietly and sent him mental pictures (I tried - they say a cat can understand that) to tell him to remember hugs and that he was always surrounded by love.:)
Irene said it was strange - one or more cats will always start calling during the night. But after Sekeetha's owner's daughter came and got him, the rest of the cats were still...all night.
Godspeed to the Bridge, Sekeetha.
Godspeed, Sekeetha, blessed with a long life full of love.
