Thought these might be of interest too: these are pictures of Northern Iraq as seen from the plane home (we had a connecting flight at Dubai), revealing some rather magnificent mountainous regions. The photos don't really do it justice.

Zara, these are amazing photos. I bet that is a trip that you will NEVER forget. I checked them out on your facebook page first then came here for the descriptions. You should be so proud of yourself! If more people did this ingnorance wouldn't flourish. I traveled to Iran in 1999, a more kinder people I have never met. I have also traveled to Europe but unfortunately not your lovely home country.
That is my dream someday is to travel to places like this.
