Thank you again, all you kind folks, for all your good wishes and prayers and candles.
I called the emergency vet clinic to ask them about whether I should bring her in tonight .. to have the fluid drained if they could, or, sigh, to be euth.. I said, a positive sign is that she eats small amounts often and enjoys it, but negative the fluid and labored breathing. The person with whom I spoke said it was pretty much up to me. Then she said the doctor was presently in surgery and there are other patients waiting, so she'd check on what might be a good time to bring her if I'm going to. She said to call back around 8pm (it's 7pm now). So I guess I'll do that. It would be nice if they could drain the fluid and make her comfortable for a while longer.

I hope she can be comfortable for a bit longer, Pat, especially as she is enjoying her treats.
I have heard other PTrs say that our furbaby will let us know when...if Peony still enjoys some things and is not in pain, then that's a sign she's not ready to go.
Prayers for some gentle and clear advice/help from the vet.

Pat, I am so very sorry. You are doing everything humanly possible for your baby. :( I hope she lets you know when she's "done" and that her passing is peaceful. It is ALWAYS on a Sunday isn't it? Gentle hugs to you and love to both of you for your time together.

She's gone. ER vet said she was too far gone for draining the fluids to be any help. She's anemic, very dehydrated (and I'd just given her 100cc fluid). Vet said her system is already starting to shut down.
I was crying away. I asked, couldn't draining the fluids give her a little more time? Would there be a specialist who could perhaps help her?
I kept saying, I'm so sorry, Peony.
I held her at the end. Kept petting her and saying "I love you so much!"
I'll see you again, my dearest Peony, one fine day.
