If you know the shelter where he was adopted from, I'd sure let them
know Splinter's living conditions & the fact that the cat has been declawed.
I can't imagine any shelter would turn him away, especially if he were adopted there.

Awwww, Splinter. If anyone can help you find a new home, it's KT. I too will help with travel funds.
I wouldn't deal with the loser owner. What I WOULD do is call the army base and report him. It's abuse, neglect, and abandonment. I'd say animal cruelty is a pretty hefty charge.
I rescued a declawed kitty from the naval sub base in Groton a while ago. The poor girl was declawed on all fours and effing family upped and moved away. She was a very lucky girl, though. She has a great home with a woman and her elderly mother in Wethersfield, CT.
Thank you all for the advice and support. It really helps to hear you are doing the right thing sometimes.
Animal Control could not care less. I know that sounds bad, BUT they dont. The only offer I would get is for them to take the cat and make the guy pay a fine. That would not help, and to be honest, I get NERVOUS if he actually does let this kitty in, even for a minute...
And I do not think that the guy would come looking for the cat, if he went *POOF*. He may ask about him, but I could always just deny deny deny. Been there done that!
We bought this house in late December, and when we moved here, the guy was married, and the kitty stayed inside about 75% of the time. Once the woman moved out, the cat went out with her. (3-4 months maybe).
I could cover his vet bills.. I am sure he needs shots. He is fixed already ( I checked :o ) I have put an advantage on him, and dewormed him myself. He was covered in fleas, so I have done it monthly for about 3 months.
If someone on here truly wants to adopt him, and keep him indoors only and love him, please let me know. I am sure we could get some kind of transport set up. I can cover the vet cost to get him utd and an exam.
Thank you all again for these offers and help. I am sure if Splinter knew that lots of people all over the WORLD are praying and rootin for him, he would have an extra pep in his step:p
For now he is resting in his cage in my spare room. I have a 4 bedroom house, and EVERYROOM is taken by cats... Go figure:rolleyes:;)
Just glad hubby does feel kinda bad for him. He seems to have struck a cord on Rickies heart... BUT not enough of one to keep him... He says I am allowed 10 cats, and I am 5 over already:rolleyes:
Poor Boy, he looks so sweet and desperate for love and affection. What a w***er putting the cat out when he can't possibly defend himself, also an A-hole for getting him declawed in the first place, idiot. I really hope you can find a solution, and as long as the cat knows that he has you to come to, he'll be okay I think. Well Done Katie.
Well...there's Moosmom, sugarpaws and Jen. You're in PA?
How far to OH and IN from there? Jen, you are in PA already, right?
Any other offers?
This guy breaks my heart:love::love:...I can't take him, but am willing to donate towards his transport to a PT home.
Let me know...............:(
aww poor thing. he looks so sweet.
to declaw is one thing, and to send them outside is even worse.
people are stupid...anyway, i don't even think the owner would care if he went "missing".
:(
Katie is in North Carolina.
I'm in PA.
Honestly, if I could figure out a weekend where I don't work at my 2nd job, I'd drive there myself. He's just too darn sweet looking.
Maybe I could figure out something and put my name in for off sometime in late October or in November?? This is my first Sunday off since Aug. 1st. and haven't had a Saturday off since I started. :(
How long are you willing to wait Katie?? Pathetic kitties just rip my heart out (and Zach MAY be getting a home if we can figure out logistics and timing with him as well... fingers crossed on him!!).
Katie, I emailed through this site some background on our family- I would have PM but the option is not available on my user name- don't know why. We have not changed our mind. All that we care is that he gets a loving caring home. He so much deserves and needs it.

What a sweet looking fellow Splinter is! His person sounds like a real jerk. If you are going to scoop him, reporting him might just make things worse for you and Splinter. I would imagine that he has no intention of getting another cat, he acts as if this one is a burden and it's as if he wants it to run away.
I too will happily contribute towards a transport to get this guy to a wonderful indoor home. I will follow this thread to see if a collection gets started (paypal account etc..)
Whoever takes him, please post lots of pics please!! :D
Thank you for caring about him!!
Jenn, I just noticed your updated Siggy. Indigo Girls are my absolute favourite. I've been listening to them since the mid '90s and LOVE them! Closer to Fine is such a good song. My favourite song is Love's Recovery.Quote:

My bathroom is free for temporary shelter til he gets used to my crew. I also have websites I can put him on so he could very well get a home soon. There offer is also there, KT. You done great, girl.
Jenn, what would it take for you to get a weekend off at your second job? (I don't remember what it is.) Do you need to get someone else to fill in for you? How hard is it to line someone up, especially when it's for such an emergency rescue mission? Do you need the money really badly? Well, as I said, I'll contribute to getting Splinter to safety, and if helping to make up your earnings for that time off is part of it, that's fine with me.

The last time I asked for a weekend day off was for my family reunion, and it was nixed. I'm a cashier at a foodmarket for my 2nd job, and I'm still on "probation" (started end of July), so if I can't get someone to fill in for me, and end up not going, it counts against me.
This is why I said, if I can plan it ahead (most of the October weekends are already booked up on the calendar... they allow 5 people to request off per day on... I had gone back to see when I could get a doctor's appt).
I go in next tomorrow evening. I will check again to see if all the weekends are booked. November calendar isn't up yet, so I have to wait for that. I'm thinking they may put it up once it's Oct. 1st.
It's not a matter of "replacing" funds, it's the fact that if I can't schedule, or switch, and I don't show, it counts against me and I could lose the job, so that's why I asked if Katie can hold off or not. If not, at least I can try to help with a transport if I have that ability and he comes through this neck of the woods.
What a love bug! We are also willing to take him if necessary. Espen (he's 7)saw the pictures and he said "AWWWWW, I would let him sleep with me and love him all the time!" Again though, we are pretty far away, but more than willing to open our home!
We actually rehomed our neighbor's cat just this past summer. They weren't abusing her, but they could have cared less. After her second litter of kittens, I took her to the vet and got her fixed and found her a new home. They asked about her for a couple of months, but I told them I just hadn't seen her and eventually they forgot about her....sad, huh? Now, she has a wonderful home with people who dote on her and she LOVES all of the attention! Anyway, my point is that I usually if the owners don't care enough to take care of the cat, they don't care enough to mind much if it disappears either.
