:( :(
Those poor babies! It's just NOT fair!! I just cried so hard when I was reading the tribute to Persephone. She was such a fighter, and may she rest in peace at the Rainbow Bridge. She is free from pain now. Our thoughts & prayers will be with other two now.
-
Oh my God! I was just going to reply that I haven't heard from Joan about Persephone's condition when I read Cookiebaker's post that she's now at the Rainbow BRidge.... I'm crying right now... The only good thing is that we know that she's no longer in pain..... Please let's all continue to pray for the other two.... This is so sad... :( :( :(
-
OMG! How awful and sad! It's taken me a while to get the courage and guts to read the thread as I had to wait for a better state of mind. What a pity! Has the previous owner been "Rounded-Up" yet? No living creature should go through that. What a disgrace  :( ANd I'll be those poor precious babies never even fought back. Our Phila District Attorney is so sick and tired of all this abuse she is trying to make animal cruelty a felony charge, not a misdeanor and a slap on the wrist and a week in jail. Being a true believer in RB I know that she is well and happy now and enjoying the kind of life she should have had on earth.

Subject: Chat: Persephone has journeyed to the Bridge
*Permission to Crosspost*
Hello Friends,
It is with a heavy and grieving heart that I
report to you this evening. Persephone has
crossed the Bridge.
Courage and I had both spent the night with our
girl. He drapped his paw over her, and I stroked
her soft new downy coat. If it had been possible
to will her to health, both Courage and I would
have done so.
Her blood test this morning was dismal, showing
both liver and kidney involvement. But her
x-rays...
Her lungs were completely obscurred from view by
the cloudy white of fluid or massive infection in
her lungs. She was laboring to breathe, her liver
and spleen were enlarged. As I looked at the
x-rays, my heart dropped. Hopes dashed, tears
sprang to my eyes as Dr. Paula and I made the
decision to release her from her suffering.
I kissed her nose, her muzzle, and her soft ears
as I told her that Magnus was waiting for her. I
told her how much she was loved, and how many
people had sent Angels to guide her and keep her.
My tears fell on her soft fur, she gasped, and
she was gone.
Dr. Paula feels this was tickborne disease,
generalized bacterial infection, or leptospirosis
from drinking contaminated water, what ever water
these babes could find, in the hell that was
their former home.
I came home alone, and tried to explain to
Courage. As I walked to my bedroom, to finally
lay down to rest, every dog in this house threw
back their heads in a mournful dirge. I have
never heard anything like this. It was eerie. 9
dogs lifted their voices to the heavens, and for
several minutes all I could hear was their
plaintive song.
Our hearts are broken. For one short month
Persephone knew love. For one month...
I really can't type more now. It took me all day
to be able to turn on the computer to share this
sad news.
I have asked that she be cremated, and her ashes
returned to me. I cannot regret the expenses of
the last few days. I hope their will be help for
her vet bill, but if not... I will find a way.
Take out a loan, beg--something.
If any are able to contribute towards
Persephone's bill, or Courage and Donnan's,
their vet is Spring Oaks Animal Hospital
2489 South Woodland Boulevard, Deland, FL 32720
(386) 736-6747
I thank you for your prayers and thoughts,
friends--and ask that you light a candle for this
sweet furchild.
Joan

Went back to the website ( http://www.greatpyreneesrescue.net/helpthesepyrs.htm ) to read the updates and view pics. This is just so devastating. If you only knew how loving these "Gentle Giants" are. It just breaks my heart. Joan's description of holding Persephone reminds me of my Avalanche on her last days.... This is so hard to bear. RIP, sweet Persephone, you did not deserve this.
-
I hoped God would let you live here on earth after being rescued from that hell, but he wanted you to come to heaven.
I don´t know why, but I do know that you are no longer in pain, and will not ever suffer again.
Persephone, rest in peace sweet girl...

Sad update on Pyrs rescuer.
Dear Rescue Friends,
Some of you may have remembered an earlier post regarding three badly neglected and mistreated Pyrenees that traveled 1000 miles to safety and RESCUE:
http://www.greatpyreneesrescue.net/helpthesepyrs.htm
Many of you made generous contributions to this particular rescue effort... Sadly, Joan Fremo, Pyrangel Rescue Network, passed away yesterday. This is a huge loss for orphaned and displaced Great Pyrenees in many places. Joan will be greatly missed.
At this point we do not know what arrangements have been made for the remaining foster dogs which were in Joan’s care. We have offered to help, and have asked to be kept apprised of what is needed to accomplish this rescue effort.
Just wanted to ask for prayers for Joan and her family. Also prayers for the rescued Pyrs that were in her care. Thank you.
-
Oh how sad this is. We'll be saying prayers for her family & the dogs that were in her care.
-
This is very sad :( . Joan will be in our thoughts and prayers . She has rescued so many lives and I know she'll be greatly missed by everyone ...
Sue - do you have any news on what happened to the other two Great Pyr that was rescued? I wish they're ok.. They're always in my thoughts. :(
Thank you so much for updating us...
-
Trisha, I haven't heard any updates on the two remaining Pyrs. I'm sure Chicago Pry rescue will update as soon as things are worked out. They have volunteered to help out in this tragic situation. :(

THE GREATEST PEER
[In memory of the beloved Great Pyrenees rescuer and talented writer Joan C. Fremo]
by Jim Willis
http://www.crean.com/jimwillis
The dogs of the Pyrenees Mountains,
Are noble, loyal and grand,
And they had as their champion a woman,
Whose name was known throughout her land.
Her efforts for them were legend,
In her they had no greater friend,
And they mournfully howled and wept,
That her Earthly days should end.
Like her namesake, an unlikely savior,
"Saint Joan" battled with love, not sword,
She pleaded for compassion,
And inspired many with her words.
All Heaven was there to greet her,
Escorted by many a loved Great Pyr,
And the jewels in her crown, they sparkled,
In recognition that she had no peer.
*******
In deepest sympathy to her family and friends, and I was blessed to
count myself among them. Our loss was Heaven's gain.

Sue,
What a sad day for Pyr Rescue and all other rescue groups
too. I'm sure Mrs. Fremo inspired untold hundreds of other
people to take up the cause of animal rescue. A loving heart
like she had will be sadly missed. Our loss IS heavens gain.
