Here is wishing for the best possible outcome! I will be praying and sending good thoughts to your family too.
Uggghhhhh.....I called this morning to get the results of the X-Ray. The woman on the phone said that they have to make sure the doctor signed off on the report, before the Nurse could call me back with the results. They will call me either today or Tomarrow!!! I am so Frustrated!! I just want to know what is going on!!http://pets-n-people.net/vb/images/s...dded/help!.gif
More positive thoughts going out. I would hope that they will have the doctor sign off on it today and give you a call this afternoon. You don't leave a mother waiting like that when you have the results in front of you.
Far be it from me to tell you not to stress where your baby is concerned, especially after the drama that I recently experienced w/my son. When it's our kids, all bets are off. I can tell you, though, that my nephew had the first condition that you mentioned, that of growing too fast, and it was scary for all of us watching him cry but the good news is that he outgrew it, if you'll pardon the pun. Do try not to get yourself too worked up, though, regarding possible outcomes. Easy to say, I know, but take lots of deep breaths and know that all the PTers are praying for you and your son. Keep the faith. :)
I sat here all day, patiently waiting for their phone call. Hubby calls a few minutes ago, and says there is a package he left in my car, that needed to be mailed out today. The post office is only a 10 min round tip, so I went and got it taken care of. Lo' and behold, when I get home, there is a message on my machine from the doctor!!http://pets-n-people.net/vb/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif Too bad I couldnt hear a single freaking thing except, this is Dr. So and so. http://pets-n-people.net/vb/images/smilies/eek.gif So I called them back, and she is busy, but will call me back when she can!! Argghhh......I feel like a damn prisoner in my own Home!! I dont dare go to the bathroom for fear of missing the second call!!http://pets-n-people.net/vb/images/s...added/bowl.gif
I finally got the call!! Johnny's X-Rays came back Clean! Thank the lord, which means no masses or signs of Arthritis!!http://pets-n-people.net/vb/images/s.../headbang2.gifThey do feel that he has what is called Osgood Schlatter Disease-

It causes swelling, pain and tenderness just below the knee, over the shin bone (also called the tibia). It occurs mostly in boys who are having a growth spurt during their pre-teen or teenage years. One or both knees may be affected. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
So he has to go and see an Orthepedist, and has to have Physical Therapy. I also have to Limit his amount of Excersise. No Sports for the time Being. But all in all, not horrible news.

Yes, that's the name of the disease; I couldn't recall it earlier. Well, now you know and it isn't as bad as you might have imagined, so you can exhale now. :) Your boy's gonna be fine. I'm happy that you'll get some stress relief and you'll take good care of your son.Quote:

Oh good. I'm so glad to hear it was something relatively minor. :D
Amen to that!Quote:

Glad to hear the xrays came back with good news. I'm sure he's gonna be bummed out not being able to play sports and doing therapy, but at least it's a minor consession for a short time. Good news overall.
Great news! :)
I was wondering how the ailment got its name and who it was named for:
Here's a link from Mayo, with info in non-medical English, if you are interested:Quote:
It was named after two physicians in 1903, Dr. Robert Osgood and Dr. Carl Schlatter. These Doctors defined the disease.

I'm glad to hear that he'll be fine and is just going through a growth spurt.:) Hopefully physical therapy will help him out a lot.
