That's actually NOT their adoption policy and I told them they should change the way they have it worded on the web site then! They said it just means that IF you own your home, they require proof of ownership. Apparently they had several adopters SAYING they owned their home so they could adopt because they KNEW their landlord didn't allow pets. However, you can adopt if you're a renter as long as they can verify that you do have the landlords permission to have the pet you're adopting.
This particular shelter is not the one in my county and quite frankly, it's very poorly organized! I called to ask about Sprinkles over a week ago and was told she had been adopted out already. :( So, then I go TO the shelter to look at the homeless babies and lo and behold, there she is! GGRRR!!! They also have a really nice girl named Sally and their description of her makes her sound like a crabby whench and she's NOT at all! I walked over, picked her up and she melted into my arms and started purring! The web site also does NOT indicate that she IS spayed AND declawed! Geez....maybe she'd get a home faster if people KNEW that! I could go on and on but I won't bore you. :)
