Ok, here's the scoop....
I just got off the phone w/Suzy and she talked to this woman for quite some time. Apparently, the woman has found homes for all the kittens and she's taking the moms in to get spayed. I asked "Suzy, are you sure she wasn't conning you?" and she said "Mary, honestly, she sounded one hundred percent legit. She also has a horse and she said that she's a real animal lover, that cats just seem to find her." Well, Suzy and I both know how that is. For the longest time, we felt like marked women where cats were concerned. Apparently, the woman told her that under no circumstances would she take the kittens to the pound because she's afraid that they would get PTS and that's why she was trying so hard to find homes for them. That doesn't sound like a person who would drown innocent kittens to me. So. If I find out that my friend said that only to get me to spring into action and take those kittens, she and I are going to have a come-to-Jesus-meetin'. Both Suzy and I got no sleep last night, I got my PT friends worked up and it all may have been for nothing. I apologize to all of you for spouting off the way I did but my friend made it sound like those kittens were doomed. Suzy assured me that she feels confident that the woman is taking good care of them. This is yet another reason why I'm no longer actively involved in cat rescue. I can't take the stress any more.

No apologies for being so passionate! It's good news...and you were the cause of that. Without you getting involved, we may never have known that they seem to be in good hands as it turns out.
Now...your friend on the other hand, it sounds like she knew exactly which heartstrings to pull with you. She made a story into a desperate situation...maybe to look bigger in your eyes??

You could be right, I dunno. She's a good person and I think that you hit it on the head, she knew which heart strings to pull w/me. I guess the main thing is that the kittens and mom are ok and not in any imminent danger.
