Same here. If I hear the pump make the slightest noise, I know it's overdue for cleaning.Quote:

The last time I had a ride out to Petcetera and spent 145 dollars. But I got on sale 12 Big Bags of Litter.
168 cans of Fancy Feat
144 pouches of Petcetera Food.
70 pounds of Nutro Complete Care Indoor Senior.
And 24 Big Bags of Whiskas Temptations.
And 2 Cat Beds with sisal ladders.
Thank God for coupons and sales!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the beds went to Animal Welfare where they raised about 60 dollars on it in thier penny sale.
All in all a Great Day.
Especially when JJJ3 saw his treats!

Total cleaning time about 10 minutes once a week (more if they get lots of hair in it).
I've never had to take apart the motor yet, but I think my hubby knows how to do that if necessary though.
Wow you certainly make sure the cats have their necessities, you could say spoiled lol. I have always wanted to get my cats a water fountain, I haven't yet, but I plan to, I bet its healthier too, because the water is constantly moving it doesn't go stale or anything.
I own a drinkwell. http://www.vetventures.com/
I like it better than the petmate version because on the falling stream, which my kitten loves to drink from!
It does not splash , and is not very loud due to the design of it.
It uses a carbon filter that Im not sure if the PetMate one uses.
Not that it matters, but I believe PetMate originally used the same sort of design as Drinkwell, but they got sued because the free falling water was patented or something along those lines.
So PetMate had to redesign and they came up with the "slide" idea.

The Petmate one also has a carbon filter inside. That was a good selling feature to me and I think it helps keep the water fresh and clean.
Dunno about original designs, I'd seen pet fountains before but never really paid close attention to specific design until I got the first one last fall.
Glad to hear the drinkwell one doesn't splash, I'll make note of that in the future if someone asks.
Wow, I've not seen this kind before! My cats would love it, especially my RB Peeka who would only drink out of the faucet.
