My Daisy has always been a digger. She scratches me with her little claws to let me know she needs something. If she scratches my arm, she wants me to pick it up and move it so she can lie down there. If I'm walking, she'll sometimes scratch my foot to tell me to pick her up. She isn't real aggressive with it and if she starts getting too crazy, I quietly tell her no as I place my hand over the spot she was trying to dig into. It's the only way she knows how to communicate(I'm assuming)so I've never tried to stop her completely. I probably shouldn't have let it continue but I felt that was her way of "talking". There has never been any nipping with it and overall, she's pretty gentle with the way she does it. However, if I hadn't brought her down a few notches as a puppy, she would be drawing blood out of me now. It did take some training to get it where it is today. :)
