Non-flavored Pedialyte can be given to Artica.
Yogurt, I was told, causes diarrhea. Whenever I give MooShoo yogurt, it gives him diarrhea.
Try putting cooked rice in his foot. Rice being a starch, will firm up his poos.

All hugs passed on with pleasure. :)
Thanks Donna. When I feed Artica tonight she will be getting boiled rice and chicken. I will check with the vet on the yogurt thing. I think it has a different effect on dogs than cats. I believe homemade frostypaws are made with yogurt and those are suppose to be nice summer treats for them. But I will check with the vet before I give her any. Thanks so much.

Michelle, we used to give Tinkerbelle Pedialyte when she got an upset tummy, and it seemed to work. So, if all fails, I would suggest that.
((HUGS))
Defiantly skip the gatorade -- it is a huge myth that it's good for people and animals when they are sick. It has alot of sugar in it which upsets the balance of intestinal flora, feeding the bad bacteria, which can be the cause of the problem in the first place.
Boiled chicken and rice is good for a sensitive tummy, but to make the stool firmer I would mix potato, pumpkin, and banana -- all very good stool firmers that won't upset the tummy.
Good luck!
Thanks so much Jordan. Gina suggested pumpkin too. I will head out now shortly to the fruit and vegetable store to get her some banana and pumpkin. We have potatoes so don't need those.
She devoured her boiled rice and chicken this morning. So far no poopie so not sure how the consistency is but man her energy level is through the roof. If that is any indication I would think she is doing pretty good. She is terrorizing Phoenix this morning. And she has not stopped for a second. In fact hubby just brought the fan up from the basement and she has a great time giving it hell. She has never seen one before.
I will keep you all updated on her stool and how she is doing. Thanks so much for caring and offering help, hugs, prayers and concern. We appreciate it so much.
Hugs to all and big sloppy puppy kisses from Artica.
Michelle
Glad to hear she still has plenty of energy!
Let us know when she poops!! :D
Glad to hear that cutie pie is feeling better. Please keep us updated.
Well no poopies so far today. It seems she has gone from diarrhea to nothing at all. She will be having her dinner in a about 1 1/2 hours so many then.
Should I be worried that she has not pooped at all yet or is this normal after going through a bout of diarrhea and fasting???
Thanks again everyone.
Michelle
Just checking in Michelle. Glad to hear things are better. I have no advice but I hope she continues to improve. I know you can't wait for it to be over too :) Hang in there!! :)
Giving the fan hell must be too funny for words :D What a little spitfire and a total cutie pie.
actually that´s what fasting does......gives time to completely clean the "pipes"...... when whe eats some she´ll have something to discharge...... rice and chicken are great for upset tummys......... give her a hug from meQuote:
