Why dogs shouldn't eat bees

Aww! Poor Nebo! I hope he feels better soon, what a big cheek he has now.

Zoey still catches bee's after being stung a billion times, I guess it's worth the pain.

Here we go again.... :rolleyes: This was about a week ago, she's fine now. I wonder how many pictures like this I'll have by the end of summer. A few butterflies have lost their lives to her too, at least they don't make her face swell up though!

LOL!!! My mom just went through this with her Sheltie Timmy!! He got it on the end of the nose tho, and mom had to pull out the stinger. He still went after more!! :rolleyes:

Poor Nebo! He looks so sad in that last picture. I hope his swelling goes down!

Both my pups snap at all flying bugs & I hate it. I fear they could get
a sting in their throat & if it got swollen, they couldn't breath. Don't know
if it's logical to think that, but I do.

I know you probly already know the dangers of bees and dogs but I figured I would post this anyways.

I know, I have a groomer customer that has a dog that almost died because of a bee sting. He had a severe reaction. Just like people, some dogs have a much worse reaction to bee stings than others. Smokey (RB) went after bees and never had anything even swell up. My dogs have never had anything more than swelling in the area of the sting, I keep predisone on hand to give them when it happens. We ended up taking Syd to the emergency vet one night because her entire head and throat were swollen (she wasn't having trouble breathing at all though). The last time Nebo ate a bee it was during a walk, it flew in front and *snap* it was gone. Trust me, if I could stop them from eating bees, I would, but its not really possible. They are in the house when I'm not home, they are only out in the yard when I'm home.

Ya I thought there wasn't really anything you could do to stop them, unless maybe a bee repelant.

Poor Keva, please don't eat bees. I've always got Benadryl on hand here and just went out yesterday to buy a smaller dosage for Jake, just in case.:rolleyes:
