I forgot the worst part about my old truck. The a/c didn't work, try driving in the middle of an Az summer without a/c. In the summer I drove to work and home and that was it until 8 p.m. when it was cool enough to go out.
That's why my new car is a toyota :) I'm looking forward to trouble free driving :DQuote:

That's a tie, probably, between the Ford Escort and the Jeep Laredo. We were starving college students, and had the vehicles to prove it!
When I got a job offer my senior year in college, the FIRST thing I did was sell that Escort and order a custom Mazda Miata. Ooooh, how I loved that car!
I had this 1984 Subaru which gave me transmission trouble, nonstop. I'm reluctant to ever get another Subaru.
Totally agree! Our family has had several Toyotas and we loved them all. I think that Toyota boasts best consumer loyalty or something to that effect and I believe they are right.Quote:

My worst car was a Chevy Corvair. Actually it was the first car hubby bought after we got married. Probably very few people here even remember the Chevy Corvair. We often had puffs of smoke come out from under the dashboard as we'd drive down the road. Never did find out where that all came from because we traded it in quickly. LOL!
My only troublemaker car was a 1987 Toyota Tercel hatchback with a 4-speed manual transmission. It also had an AM FM cassette radio and air conditioning. I got the car without the a/c because it was missing a part from the factory installation. The problems began when the car was recalled to the dealer for installation of the missing part. The a/c never did work correctly. I used to tell people who rode in my car that they could either be cool or get where they wanted to go, but not both at the same time. I used to park in an outdoor lot at work and after a 10-hour shift in cold winter weather the doors would freeze closed, but the hatch wouldn't - so I used to pop the hatch and climb over the backseat to get the driver's door open, then wrap up in a wool blanket until the heat started. Since then I've had two Saturns. My sister had a Toyota Camry that she absolutely drove into the ground. When it died she got a Toyota Highlander, which has proven itself extremely reliable. It's a bit of a gas-guzzler, though.
I've only had two cars.. a 93 Dodge Shadow, and a 98 Honda Accord (current car). The 93 was insanely expensive to keep running. I remember one week, we were at the mechanics every single day. Each day we'd bring it home, then find something wrong with it the next morning and bring it in again.
I drive a Honda now and I'm very happy with it. :D
I'd have to say it was my '86 Ford Escort. I feel bad calling it the worst car because it really was a champ and put up with so much abuse. However there is a story why it is the worst:
Driving down the freeway one day I was lightly hitting the steering wheel while listening to a song and the entire wheel popped off in my hand with the wires attached. I showed it to my buddy in the passenger seat and he screamed "Put it back on! Put it back!" So I stuck it back on the steering column and drove back home. I told my dad there was a problem with the Escort and when he asked what I offered to hand him the wheel. I donated that car not too long after.
Here's why I feel bad for the poor thing. My parents bought it for my brother as his first car from a real nice guy  who said it had never had any issues. The car looked good and seemed to drive good. However, one day while my brother was driving it the front end basically fell apart from the rest of the car. It turns out the car was in a major wreck and the front subframe had been poorly rebuilt  . So the front end was reattached a second time since being built. Front end number 3 came after I had the car for a while, it was a hand-me-down. I wasn't too surprised when the frontend had to be repaired though. Between my brother and I that car had logged more flight time than most people with private pilot licenses. That car loved to fly. If you're ever in Simi Valley you might see parts of a white escort dug into most of the intersections that cross the railroad tracks. :D Then again we also played Dukes of Hazzard in it and took it through trails that our friends trucks were getting stuck in. Man I miss that car at times.
I have many more wonderful car/truck stories, but that escort was the worst from the get go.
The worst car was a rental that I had several trips back. A 2007 Chrystler 300. A very impressive looking car... We got off the boat up in Kentucky when one of those bad winter storms was appraoching and it was cold!! Well, the heater didn't work and 2 of the dash lights were on that signal the car needs to be serviced. This car only had 25,000 miles on it.
Looked up the meaning of those lights in the book in the glove box and one of the lights was a "toggle" (?) light. Instructions said you could still drive the car as long as the light was on but if it started blinking, you needed to stop and shut the car off immediately... GREAT! Here we are trying to beat the winter storm and had a long trip ahead and we had a car with problems..
We made it home on pins and needles but returning it to the airport the next day was ONE SCAREY RIDE! Stop and go traffic on the interstate for most of the way and towards the end, when I would let off the brake and press on the gas, there was a BIG ker-lunk in the back and the car would jerk forward real bad. I am convinced that if I had to stop and go 2 - 3 more times the transmission was going to fall out on the road. I was a nervous wreck when I got to the car return and I gave them a piece of my mind and told them they better not DARE rent that car again until they had it checked at the Chrystler dealership.. That was a horribale car!
the van.... lol it had no heat, the lifters on the back gate didnt work no matter how often they were changed, the side sliding door only worked in summer, the driver side door didnt open(AKA the only working door was the front passenger). the blinker only worked when it felt like it... I cant even name all the things that were wrong with the engine. finally is just died and even the best machanics could not fix it. either way it makes our new 1995 bare bones ford Taurus feel like a luxery vehical lol
I've only had two cars, my current one, a 1992 chevy lumina and before that I had a 1987 buick century. Both cars were "hand-me-downs" (that I had to pay for, not free), my current one from my grandma, the buick from my parents. Actually, I really like the car that I have now, its a total granny car but so far it hasn't given me much trouble...I'm not a big car person, I don't need anything fancy, I just want it to work well.
The buick ran pretty well really, I'd still have it if it weren't for wrecking it and it costing more to fix it to make it pass inspections then what its worth. But it had some issues. The radio would go out and make weird alien noises (had to buy a cd player). The passenger side door could only be opened from the inside. The drivers side window decided to stop working one day and never worked again. Man was that ever embarassing with drive-throughs, I had to open my door. :o It also liked to randomly die on me, stranding me in various places. After the front end was wrecked the car still worked, I drove it around for months looking like that lol.
The worst car my family has ever owned was a Ford Taurus. We will never even consider another Ford after that one. It was years ago that we had it, I can't remember all of the issues other than the transmission going out repeatedly, all I know is that my parents absolutely hated that car. My friend just bought a used Ford Taurus too and has had nothing but trouble with it as well.
