This is so true! My mom is quite elderly now (in her 90's) and her memory isn't so great. I am glad I heard all of those great stories years ago and have committed it all to memory. There are still some things I'd like to ask her but unfortunately now she probably wouldn't remember at this point.

I am so glad you posted this! Back when Tom Brokaw's "Greatest Generation" book came out - I asked each of my parents to jot down some stories they had about their early years and now I keep these writings in my copy of the book. Mom was an RN and served on a USN ship off Italy during the war. My dad was in the Army Air Corp and this is when he met my mom. She is gone now and dad is 82.

HMMMM everyone seems to have such exciting stories. My parents both had the same sort of life when they were younger.

both were raised in VERY small towns. My mom was the only 8th grader in a one room school house lol and this was in the 50's that's how small the town was.

My dad grew up in a small town and played with his brothers mostly... and has LOTS of scars to prove it lol.

My mom was married at 19 and had my brother. My dad was married in his early 20's and had my brother and sister.

but I always love to hear stories about my Maternal Grandmother. she died of Cancer when I was 8. She was only around 54. But I love to hear how much alike we are lol. And all the stories about growing up in their small little town. And of course how much the city I grew up in has changed over the years.
