How exciting! Congrats! :D
Congratulations!
:D
Congratulations. :) I happy that you've gotten this opportunity. :)
Might be too far from Anchorage, but Haines is very close to me. Four hours by road if the construction isn't too heavy--the Haines Highway is always under some kind of construction. In fact, if you want to shop for anything that isn't touristy, Whitehorse is the closest centre! PM me and I'll send you my contact info in case we make it there or you make it over here!
Haines is one of my favorite places. I don't get to go very often as getting away is very difficult! Maybe this summer for a weekend. You'll love it there...here's a couple pics from our last trip in August 05.

Stuart trying to land a salmon from a kayak at the mouth of the Chilkoot River--fantastic fishing and bear viewing(You will get bear awareness training right? Bears frequently wander right into town!)

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond everyone!

carole - From what I understand the guy to girl ratio is exactly what you think it is. :D
CathyBogart - Congrats on the internship!!! I wasn't even looking for mine and it fell right into my lap. It was amazing! I can't even tell you how blessed I feel to have this oportunity!

carole ~ Sorry, I just saw this. Yes, there are more men than women in Alaska. But, as my "thingy" (See Location at the top-right of my posts) says -- THE ODDS ARE GOOD, BUT THE GOODS ARE ODD. There is a very good reason why these men are still single! Many strange ducks up here. Some on the run from wives and kids and the law.....Quote:
