So relieved to hear that Chipper is doing so much better. :) Now, you
all can enjoy your trip.
Excellent news! However, parvo has a 14 day incubation....I had the same thought! Will continue to keep Little Man in my thoughts and prayers!
:)

Glad Chipper is feeling better!!
Only have a few minutes, but I had to check on this thread. I am so glad that Chipper is feeling better. I have been thinking about him all day.
I'm sorry I missed this but very glad Chipper is indeed, chipper again. He's such a doll.
Hey everyone. :) Thanks for the good thoughts. We are finally home... 8 hours later! Got to the border and encountered a 2 hour back up. Oiy. My bladder was not amused. :p ;)
The pups had no accidents and both just chowed down dinner. We're going to continue giving him the diluted pedialyte since it has a short shelf life once opened. Might as well use it up.
Chipper had a soft poop before we left Toronto. No blood to be found and he was riled up all the way up to the moment we loaded them into the car. He just won't slow down. Those 2 days with no food show though. You can see his ribs. :(
Hopefully he'll gain it back and the rest of the weight he needs soon.
A little update. No accidents over night. Andy took both pups out at 6 a.m. and they peed.
Both headed straight to their beds upon coming back inside and there they stayed until I heard the tell tale sign of an animal hurking up something. Turns out it was Chipper and I got him into the kitchen where he hocked up what I would describe as a loogie. Thick, clear, and really no smell. Interesting.
A few minutes later he was doing the "I REALLY got to go" dance, so I took him out where he had more diarreha. :( Poor guy. No sign of blood though. He seemed pretty down this morning.
I'm going to double check his vaccination records to see what he's been covered for. I don't want to over react, but better to err on the side of caution. I can't bear the thought of losing my little man.
Sounds like he needs to go to the vet. My Sasha, this summer had several episodes of dirreha and vomiting. She became dehydrated. The vet gave her sub Q fluids and we put her on a gastro diet. She's not had an episode since.
aww I hope he feels better soon! (((HUGS)))
Came home and found vomit in his crate. :(
He wants to play with his toys so he's in a slightly better mood. He keeps bringing me different squeaky toys to play tug.
Didn't touch any of the food left in his crate with him. Hopefully he'll want some dinner.
He is still drinking water and having good strong pees. I also keep checking his skin to see if it's tenting at all (which it isn't) so as far as I can tell he's staying hydrated.
He received a DACCP vaccination from the shelter in September. I tried google but I can't figure out what that covers. Distemper, Parvo, or both?
I'll be calling the vet first thing in the morning.
That's a good idea to call in the morning. Hope they can help him
get leveled out. Poor Chipper. Hope you feel better soon.
"DACCP" is a puzzle!Quote:

Did you check the Rescue web site to see if they mention anything about the
vaccinations they use?
Sure do hope the Poor Kid gets to feelin better!!
Here's where we got him from:

No signs of what they vaccinate for. Though I'm curious why Chipper's adoption fee was $136.50 when their site states it's $119 (and why a sterilization fee would be assessed when they didn't neuter him). :\
Anyway... his vaccination certificate says he received a DACCP and Bordetella on 9/24/06. He was heartworm tested (came back negative) and wormed on 9/29/06.
I took him to the vet on Monday, November 20th and his brief examination showed no fleas, clean ears, good teeth and overall decent condition. Dropped off his stool sample on Tuesday and it came back negative for parasites.
He ate crunchies with vigor with no vomiting and had loose stool but I knew that would be expected with the change in diet from whatever he was getting at the shelter.
He ate a full bowl of crunchies Thursday evening and besides the added bites of turkey, got no other people food.
Friday morning he refused treats and food, had diarreha, but drank water.
Friday night he began vomiting and refused food and the diarreha got worse.
Saturday was the same. Diarreha, vomiting, refusal of food but drank plenty of water.
Sunday morning he nibbled a handful worth of crunchies. Things were looking up. He again nibbled some more upon getting home.
This morning he refused food and treats. More diarreha, vomit when I got home.
I'm so baffled. :(
He's now laying on the couch, Kia on the floor near him. He doesn't want to do anything. I have a really bad gut feeling that he's not going to want dinner.
Do you think I could add some tuna juice to it? I miss my chipper boy.
