I always say thank you. It'd be pretty rude of me if someone was holding a door or something for me, and I just walked right past them without thanking them..

I always say thank you. =)
Thats what my mum taught me to do! ^__^
yes i say thank you..always :)
I always say thank you!! half the time I am the one holding the door!:)
I usualy dont say thank you..either cause im too shy or just forget.. :o
But I do try.
yes, and I alway hold doors open for people. Sometimes if I forget or if they're a bit too far behind me I walk away fast from the door so that it looks like they were too far behind me to hold it open. :o
I always open and hold doors for people and it's only curteous to thank the person. So, when the door is opened or held for me, I thank them.
A lot of people open doors for me or keep it open. From sweet elderly people who are so kind. I always say Thank you to them. I just think its rude that someone doesn't say anything like the door was open on its own.
of course!
Justin and I have been married for 6 years and he still ALWAYS opens doors for me, including the car door. I always say thank you.
I hardly ever get the chance to open or hold the door for someone else because Justin always always opens the door for me. He does open/hold it for others too and they usually thank him.
At first, I was like, "What? Of course!"...then, I read a few posts. :o
My manners (or lack of them) reflect on ME, not others. So, while I try to exhibit good manners at all times, when someone else doesn't- I don't get rude back. I have held doors for people that have 'forgotten' to thank me. So what? I am holding the door for them because of my upbringing, my manners. Not so that I am thanked in return. Same with greetings on the phone. I almost always say, "how are you" or some other polite greeting. Some people don't ask me the same thing. That's okay. I have manners, I help make the world a nicer place. They don't. Their shortcoming. Not mine. And, to point it out is rude, the very thing I am trying NOT to be.
Just imagine what it would be like if no one ever held the door for you - and no one ever said thank you for anything.
I hold doors for people - and when they are held for me, I always say thank you.
I think we can be an example to people who were never raised to know what manners are.
I love it when people are holding the door for me - John did it all the time. :) I do too, if people aren't too far behind, as I'm always in a hurry. ;)
What I really can't stand is when people jump a queue. It's unfortunately quite common in Denmark, especially by bus stops.
When I lived in England in 69, I wasn't really aware of the queue at bus stops, it seemed that people just stood around in no particular order, but I soon learned that there certainly was a queue!! ;) British people are so much more polite - if you accidentially bump into them on a busy street, THEY say "I'm sorry".
I always say thank you & smile. I was raised to say please & thank you, and I am stunned by how many people have no manners whatsoever. I also raised my sons to be polite, and was often stopped by strangers commenting on how polite they were as children. They still hold doors, allow others through first, help with packages, help lift strollers- I'm so proud of them!
yes. :)
