The only problem with a bunny is that we have dogs behind the counter every day and I'm sure most of them are not bunny friendly :eek: I could never give up having our dogs behind the counter because it is a great stress relief and training tool for them. Not to mention, a huge stress relief for us too!! :)
Parakeets are small, and not too awfully loud....
We've all agreed on a cockatiel, but we're going to wait until one turns up at the city shelter :)

I know im a little late on this one, but if its a bird for work, and you dont want a noisy one, i would suggest Finches. They are small and can get plenty of exercise in their cage, and they arent very loud. A cockatiel makes a great pet but they need a lot of attention and should be taken out for exercise.
I guess it depends on how much time you are willing to devote to the bird, but Finches are more an ornamental pet, they are beautiful and do not require the constant attention that most birds will demand of you.
Just a thought, but check out the Zebra finches or Society finches, they are inexpensive and quite a beautiful bird.
I agree with Blackfly, cuz I have a pair of zebra finches. :) They are very nice to look at but you cant take them out of the cage. The males are not that noisy but at times they can be a little noisy, but its not loud. I even had 6 zebra finches at one point. If you are getting zebra finches i would suggest getting 2 females cuz they dont make much noise. If u get a male and a female they will try to raise young over and over, and the female will keep laying eggs. There are also many kinds of zebra finches like white ones. Well we work at the Humane Society so we REALLY understand the attention demands of animals :) :) I bought 3 books on cockatiels and we're all reading all the books before we even get the bird. We're not going to make a hasty decision because whatever we end up with, we want to know 100% how to take care of. We see too many uncared for animals on a daily basis at work.Quote:

I will look into finches too though. I just completely fell in love with cockatiels.. especially today on Outreach when I saw a bunch at the pet store we were at.
Well if your job is going to allow the care and attention that cockatiels will need, go for it, they are great birds.

We have a Cherryhead Conure and a Blue crown Conure. I have to say they make perfect pets!!!
The Cherryhead is not as loud as the Blue Crown...both talk the Blue Crown talks better. Both are very loveable, affectionate and they do not get very big. They are bigger than a Cockatiel but smaller than a Cockatoo. I know you would love one of these !!!!
Do a bit of research...on either birds to see what they look like and size...etc...

i have experience with cockatoos. (i have recently adopted the sulphur crested cockatoo that i have been babysitting for a while.) not a pet for everyone. i'd also strongly suggest a tiel for beginnger as it is an easier pet. :) good luck. can't impagine thart you still have time for a pet bird when you are working in the human society. :) it's just great.
please let us know how you decide eventually.
