From my understanding, everyone has a heart murmur. When a doctor tells you that you have a heart murmur, they probably just have a REALLY powerful stethoscope! :D But if your doctor wants to get it checked out, then go for it - but don't be too worried.
When I was in the ER due to other reasons recently, the surgeon asked if I knew that I had a heart murmur. Well, I've never been told so by *any* doctor or specialist, so no. But when both of my parents went in for the eco, the specialist just said that some doctors have too powerful of stethoscopes and not to worry. My parents told me that when I was freaking out in the ER... lol.
Lol, Sara. haha. My mom does have something more than just a regular murmur, or something, and I guess it can get passed on, so they are checking me for that, and for things more serious. I do hope his stethoscope is "too powerful" though, I think I've had enough problems to last me a life time!
The doctor who said the murmur was "very obvious" may have been taking a swipe at the first doctor who examined you and didn't pick up on it. I was once told that I had a rythmic arrythmia by one proud doctor. Whenever I've mentioned it to other doctors, they've always looked at me puzzled and said they didn't hear anything. Doctors are very human; I should know, I was married to one. ;)
Lol, I've ALWAYS wondered how you knew so much about medical threads! You are such a big help when I need something "medically known"!! Well, I guess we'll find out after this test if he was telling the truth....
I hope your Murmur isn't a serious one. I was born with a murmur, have had it my entire life, it's never held me back from anything. I was a cheerleader for 6+ years, I tend to run out of breath quickly, and need to take short "breaks" but I don't have any physical restrictions, and the Drs aren't worried about it. Please keep us updated, I'll keep you in my thoughts.
