I heard that coffee will throw the nose of a cadaver dog off when you bury a body?
You 2 seem to think you know a bit to much about body disposal...... :D just sayin', tad creepy peeps:D I like it!
Pirates of the Carribean or Wonder Woman?
Wonder Woman.
I wonder why a woman never showed up in an invisible jet to pull my bacon out of the fire!
------------
Warriors of Cavaliers?
How would you know if she was in her invisible jet?:D
I hate how hard it is to find a good apartment in a small town. Texting, calling and emailing, getting no answers. Super frustrating.
Oh, no!
IF it's NOT a jet, what is making that noise when she passes by?

Work with me?
The cable box goes on a TV.
I check the box - it seems like it's gone bad, so I bypass the box and run the cable directly into the TV.
Now? I have to have the TV rescan the channels - That takes ten minutes each time.
After I run the scan, some channels disappear and dead channels are put back into mix.
I re run the scan and then the TV tells me that the cable has gone bad.
After running to the store and buying replacement cables, pulling and attaching the new cables?
I have to pull out the directions and re-run the scan another 5 times before I finally get most of the channels back.
---------------
A TV that is smart enough to know what connection port I am using, it too stupid to know what kind of signal my cable company is using - STD, HRC, IIRC.
HUH?
Why do I have to re-scan the channel lists?
Again, smart TV, stupid hoops to jump thru.
Why is the sheet of directions an origami project - 16 different pages on a giant sheet of paper that has NO numbers or way to show in which order to read the darn thing?
And why are the instructions written in typeface small enough to give me a headache?
And why are the instructions written in advanced tech jargon?
"Choose the type of cable signal your provider is using?"
I think they are using electrons, I may be wrong?
I spent 3.5 hours messing with the dang thing before I 'fixed' it.
Now? I just have to take the cable box back and re-install it.
Fun times ahead?
The supermarket had watermelon slices, already on a foam tray and wrapped in plastic. They cost proportionately more than a whole watermelon, but I went ahead and bought a slice anyway because that's the portion I can use for just me. I like this time of year when summer fruit is available and delicious!
I'm thinking a good thought and saying a prayer for the people in Arizona and California who are dealing with hot weather and fires. Please be safe!
That is a great idea! I will as well. I was watching the news and my heart just breaks for them, some people looked so devestated I cried a bit. Can't really imagine that happening to our family and how we would cope. Life eh.
So thrilled, in fact, I'm looking forward to macroeconomics.
I finally got around to replace my old(!!!!!) mattress, and I got one of those memory foam ones that come compressed in a box. Wow, that was the weirdest thing I have ever unpacked. Out of the box, it was tightly rolled up in a plastic wrap. Before I even started cutting it open, I could hear a strange noise. It was air getting into the wrap, and the mattress already started expanding.
Once the plastic was off, it kept getting bigger like one of those tiny towels you have to soak in water. Within a few minutes, it had grown to full size.
Anyway, it's a wonderfully comfy mattress.
Why do I always get the shopping cart with the squeaky bum wheel? I then have to waste several minutes to find a quiet one.:D
I know better than to bring up D.T. but... really? Now he is disrespecting transgendered people who are risking their lives for Americans, fighting for their freedom and protecting him and his entitled family from terrorists. He did not serve, neither will his kids and I am fairly sure his grandkids won't either. I have never been more emberassed for another human being in my entire life. sigh. Glad I'm Canadian
One more thing, no disrespect but that guy needs to get his arse out of the White House and go back to doing what he does best. Stroking his own ego and being narcissistic whilst indulging himself in his endless pursuit of $$. He could care less about America and everyone on the planet knows it.
When I get a chance to go back to California I always stop at the little carts that sell fruit cups - The guy will chop it up while you watch and he tops it with a squeeze of lemon juice and a season salt called "Tajin".
For about 5 dollars you get a quart sized container with what is in season - usually watermelon, cantaloupe, mango, jicama, and pineapple.
Tajin is a lemon/salt/chili seasoning salt that goes really well with the tastes of the fruit.

As crazy as it sounds? Tajin is really good, sprinkled on a frozen fruit bar!!!
I was at the supermarket yesterday. They have a counter where smoothies are made to order and pots of wheat grass were lined up along the edge of the counter. You know exactly what my thought was: why do they have kitty grass at the smoothie bar? (apparently wheat grass is an ingredient in smoothies)
Missing my girl today, kitty grass was one of her favorite treats. I need to go to the shelter where I adopted her, and pet some of the current kitty residents.
Those sound like good ideas, Elyse! (Smoothies with kitty grass, and visiting Cassie's shelter to pet kitties.)

I'm not sure how many PTers live down in the Gulf Coast area, but I'm thinking and praying for everyone who might be affected by the hurricane this weekend. Please be safe! (((HUGS)))
Prayers and good wishes from us, too...

It's amazing that CNN (the only US channel I can view here) find it SO important to interrupt the news with commercials every 5-10 minutes, especially when life threatening hurricanes/storms affect people so bad. I would have thought it's more important to inform people what goes on in the real world! I can't remember if they did the same when 9/11 happened.
In any case, commercial breaks should not be allowed more than twice per hour! I'm glad we have have some channels totally free of commercials. The only way you benefit from them, is that you have time to go make a cup of tea, or go to the bathroom.
The news is so scary, this is going to end very badly.
Still sending thoughts and prayers to the people down in Texas and other states who are dealing with the storm. I heard on the news this morning that you can send a text with a special code to the Red Cross of Chicagoland to make a $10 donation. I've never done that before and I don't know exactly how it works. The reporter said they were also accepting donations by mail and on line.
I did get an e-mail from a friend who works with a local shelter. They are getting ready to accept animals from another shelter who is getting ready to accept animals from Texas. So the local shelter is looking for donations of food, cat litter, blankets, carriers, plus foster homes and adopters.
Still praying for Texas and Louisiana. Also praying for Florida and for the people affected by the fires out west. There was a story on the local news about a group that went to Texas with supplies and brought dogs and cats from a shelter there back to PAWS Chicago, so the Texas shelter would have space for more animals who need care. (The animals they brought had already been in shelters, not displaced by the storms.) There were 4 separate vans bringing them back and they all arrived safely. They have to be medically cleared and microchipped, and they should be ready for adoption soon.
My heart sinks every time I see those images of the devastation in Texas and Louisiana.
Unfortunately it looks like Hurricane Irma will move up the East Coast, and we in North Carolina are in its path.
Hopefully it will weaken after making landfall.
We are sending hopes and prayers that you and family stay safe, Heidi.. and hopes and prayers for all in the path of Irma.
:love::love::love::love::love::love::love: from Pat and Sparkler and Poppy
Thank you, Pat!
Our local Walmart is already completely out of bottled water, and gasoline prices have gone up again.
Do you have some water on hand? Is the car gassed up?
Are you all likely to have to head for shelter elsewhere?
Again, we are sending along all our VERY BEST energies...
:love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love:
Since I'm off today, I did get supplies and gasoline. The most important items were cat food and their medicines. We, the humans, have enough food and water, too.
I hope we don't have to seek shelter somewhere else, which would be especially difficult with the cats. We don't have a generator, but a couple of days without power would be manageable.
We could go to my boyfriend's brother's house (a 15 minute drive) or to his dad (a 30-minute drive). Of course, their proximity means that most likely they would be affected as well.
Hopefully, it won't come to this.
Just watching our local news: Monday through Wednesday will be the critical days with strong winds and heavy rainfall.
We're keeping all our hopes, prayers, good wishes, healing warm energies, etc., high for you all!...

Now that Irma has made landfall in Florida, we are getting already some windgusts.
This morning, the sky was ominous looking: To the north, clear blue sky, to the south, a wall of clouds approaching.
I cleared the deck and the front porch of most of the plants, and secured the rest.
Let's hope for the best.
The Chicago Blackhawks signed Bryan Bickell to a one-day contract yesterday so he could retire as a member of the team. I thought that was a totally classy thing to do. Chicago has claimed him as one of ours even though he is from Canada. He and his wife also have a foundation that works with rescued pit bulls, too.
Oh, is that ever nice!
Congratulations, Bryan Bickell, on your retirement, and congratulations, Chicago, on what a wonderful thing to do!
