Oh yes, they eat a lot of venison and occasioanlly rabbit (their all time favorite), buffalo, ostritch & duck. Once or twice they have had wild boar, alligator, bear, and I know a few others I just can't think of them at this time. In the wild they have actually caught & eaten pleanty of squirells, woodchucks, raccoons and of course rabbit. And they love it all.

But wait it gets good here. I offered goose again last night, mostly frozen & they gobbled it right up. Maybe it was a bad batch? Maybe they don't like it totally thawed? Maybe they just needed to get used to it? I don't know but I can't keep em' away from it now. lol

I woke up early... er... didn't sleep, so the dogs got breakfast really early and they were stoked! They both got pork spare ribs w/ some should attached, a big favorite.

I think I'm going to get a pig head from the butcher sometime soon. Whaddya think? I'm afraid it might not fit in the freezer, though...

Everyone is having a chicken quarter, and Luka and Mandy are also getting beef brisket.

You are right there. We follow the NILIF rules every single day. Sure once they've learned more we cut back a little but it is still a part of our daily routine & it will always be.

They had a whole (feathers and all) game hen today! Well, Mandy refused it lol. She seemed interested, but not totally sure if it was food. She licked the foot once and the head several times, but no bites. Hopefully she'll eat it tomorrow.

And a funny story - my family had chicken for dinner tonight (I'm a vegetarian). I had already eaten and I went outside to feed the dogs. When my brother got ready to eat, I knocked on the door (it's glass so you can see through it) and held up Mandy's bird and said "this is what you're eating". LOL. I didn't think Buck would dig in. I thought he and Luka would eat it, but would hesitate at first. He went right to town, though! Luka did hesitate, and so did Nova, and of course Mandy didn't eat at all. I think I'm going to have to cut open the belly for her in the morning, so that she can smell the yummy goodness on the inside ;) If she doesn't eat it then, then I'm going to let Buck eat it. She may just not like the feathers. She loves everything chicken though ... meat, heart, gizzards, liver ... so I would think if she doesn't want this, it's because of the feathers. And I'm not going to pluck it for her :p Next time I order I'll order it plucked, it's $2.00 more, but I really want her to have all of the organs that I can't find at the store.

Sarah, you made my dogs jealous, they LOVE whole prey. lol

I noticed that Visa has been avoiding her kelp and Biovet Skin & Coat, and I really want her coat to grow back quickly after she has pups, so I decided to dry to mix it in to a yummy mixture.

I put 4 scoops of kelp, 14 scoops of Biovet, two eggs, a whole bunch of marine oil, some pumpkin, and two lamb kidneys, and blended it up all. Visa loves it, I'm so glad. It should last me a week and really help that coat stay in.

We skipped breakfast today, since Bailey had a really big meal for last nights dinner. For dinner tonight, he will be having...

2 Chicken Feet
1 Banana
Small Portion of Beef Liver
Beef Short Ribs

Some lady that lives in the apartment building brought Bailey a fish head and a package of beef short ribs. Lucky Bailey!

Both boys split a chicken back and neck but the moment Kaedyn let his guard down, Kai stole his half too. Kaedyn threw a MAJOR hissy fit! He got some nummy tripe afterwards though.

Well I cut open the hen, pulled off some of the skin to expose the meat, and ... nothing. Mandy sniffed it, and looked at me like "WTF is this?" So after about 10 minutes of coaxing her and shoving it in her face, I gave up. LOL. Darn dog.

The Labs all had turkey necks today. Buck also had Mandy's game hen, and Nova and Luka had some beef heart.

Speaking of free meat (don't ya just love it!), I got about 4 Arm Roasts from one of my co-workers since she was cleaning out her freezer.
Needless to say that's what the dogs had for breakfast today and they were so pleased!

I'm about to be the lucky owner of 1/2 a cow! A co-worker of mine raises cows and they were taking one in and asked if I wanted 1/2 and of course I say YES! I'm going to be knee deep in meat:D

Tango just had a turkey neck for dinner, I've started her on half raw for now as that is what I can afford and I don't think I have enough storage room to feed raw twice a day (though I could be wrong on that). She's already been getting raw meaty bones for a while anyway 3-4 days a week, so I figured I might aswell start feeding her atleast half raw and half kibble daily. I wasn't sure if a turkey neck was enough for her or not (it wasn't too much, or else she would've stopped eating it as she is very good at stopping when she is satisfied), but she wasn't looking for more and if she is hungry usually she does look for more.

Normally I wouldn't really combine the cooked foods with raw but they are being fed hours apart plus Nanook's system is very used to eating what ever he wants. He's always been able to digest anything with ease. It's his 16th birthday, and probably his last. I say let him have it all! ;)

LOL. For whatever reason I didn't think it was actually going to look like a beef willy. Because of the way it was packaged I thought it was cut up into a few pieces, but nope, it was totally and completely whole. Looked exactly like it should. Made me wish I was wearing gloves! My hands felt nasty all day today, and I washed them a lot before I even felt safe eating, which was hours after the dogs ate.

All I can say is I could have gone my whole life without seeing THAT thing in a bowl.....I dunno how you cut it up, and just would NOT want dog kisses after theat meal Sarah LOL....so ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Even though everyone was feeling fine & everything was ok in the evening, we skipped dinner last night because someone(s) had a little diarrhea yesterday morning/afternoon. (too much seafood & meat with not enough bones yesterday I think)
They made up for it this morning though, they got a way bigger breakfast than I usually feed:
Kaige & Raustyk each had:
a chicken quarter
beef steak
chicken foot

Nanook & Indy each had:
a chicken quarter
chicken foot
egg

Kaige & Indy will be having an afternoon snack in a little bit, half a pigs foot/leg each.

I upped Kaige's food intake a little, he eats close to what Raustyk eats now. You see we have been increasing our hiking by walking an extra 1-3 miles the last 1.5 weeks or so. He was doing great maintaining his weight before but now that we are getting more exercise he's getting a touch skinnier. He's happy with it so lets hope it works! :D Indy seems to be holding her weight well though with the excess hiking. Maybe it is because she is older? Maybe her body takes longer to catch up? I don't know but I'm keeping a close eye on her just to be sure.
Raustyk & Nanook have not had an increase in their exercise due to their joint problems.

Everyone finished up their roast today.

Jasper had a beef rib for breakfast, dinner will be more game hen. I've been cutting pieces off of it every day, two more and it should be gone.

Since we're on the subject of gross, we went Tuesday and picked up our whole hog. Now I've never been to a slaughter house and man...the smell hits you as soon as you get out of the car :eek: Even when we got into the office to pay the smell was horrid. Not an experience I'd like to have often.
When we paid the lady asked if we wanted any crackling. Of course I had no idea of what it was so I asked (fried pig skin). I guess people eat this...eewwwww! Nope not me, but the dogs sure love it. It's the new treat here:)

Both completely full! I don't know why but I didn't think it would take up so much room.
So with the side of beef coming, we had to go buy us a new freezer. The things we do for our dogs!

Today for breakfast mine split a 6 lb chicken and got a couple pieces of cracklin for a treat.

Has anyone ever fed their dogs sweetbreads? I gave some yesterday and they totally loved it! It's an expensive way to get Roxey to eat some organs.

Wow Anna, thats a lot of meat. I'm jealous. ;) My dad loves cracklings. :p We really lucked out my father in laws wifes dad gave us a freezer. Now we need to get busy and fill it up.

No problem :) If you go to the files section there will be a menu of what she carries. I think right now she doesn't have much in stock, because she just got a walk-in freezer so that she could carry more stuff, and she had a big sale (that's when I ordered ;)). In the future she'll be carrying horse, mutton, goat, and some other meats :D

She also has wonderful customer service, cheap shipping for the amount she sends, and great products :) Everything is humanely raised, beef is grass-fed, poultry is pastured, etc. I can't reccomend her enough!

Molli got Nutro Ultra. She got some cottage cheese and a little scrambled egg and cooked meat.

Anna, my pups have had sweetbreads! They love it! Your freezer is a w e s o m e, btw. Your 3 kids are LUCKY!

Gonzo just ate his portion of goose. He ate the neck, and a half of a leg quarter. He also got an egg, some cabbage & tomato, and some vanilla yogurt w/ banana for dessert. He wasn't eating anything this morning because of Fozzie being gone, but he gave in to all the good stuff I offered him tonight. ;)

It's so sad not having Fozzie to feed. He's such a little porker, I am sure he's missing his dinner!

I've fed sweetbreads and you are right, it's an EASY way to feed organs. It's a little pricey in my area & for some reason I always forget to discuss price/availability with my butchers so they don't get it often.

I have a question. My nephew hunts, he will be going goose hunting before long would it be ok for my dogs to have the geese feet? Do you give them the whole foot?

I don't see why not, I personally would give it a try. I am not sure if they have any specific values to them, like chicken feet do but they won't hurt. I already give chicken feet and yes the entire foot (leg, foor, toes).

Edited to add, you may want to clean them well & freeze them first.
