I am so sorry, Glacier. Prayers continuing for you and Delta.
Prayers still coming for Delta's safe return. Come home Delta!!!
Glacier, can a dog live on its own up there? It sounds as though Delta is having a good old time running the hills and fields. Is this typical of husky mixes? It almost sounds wonderful, to be a free spirit. I wonder where Delta is getting food? Do you think Delta is eating with other dogs, at their homes?
It is "spring break" now, for all the college kids. Maybe Delta needed to spend some time doing what doggies do best - running!
I surely hope you find Delta soon. I am glad you are fairly sure you have had Delta sightings.
It must be so frustrating.
Delta, go home - be a good doggie!
Still thinking of you and Delta and wishing he'd come home.
Oh sweetie, I feel so bad for you. Yous are all still in my thoughts & prayers every day. hugs
Come home sweet Delta boy, we miss you.
just wanted to let you know that I'm still praying for Delta to come home!
Well, you know he is out there.. you've seen him. He's alive and well. He'll be home. It's just a matter of time. :)
Depends on the dog. A small, lap dog type wouldn't have a chance. If Delta can avoid the wolves, he's got a good chance. The wolves are really the only predator he needs to worry about. I'm not at all worried about his ability to cope with the elements. He has a phenomonal coat and is made for winter. There are lots of places he could find shelter like overhangs, fallen trees ect.Quote:

There are places around where he could be stealing food; Houses, other mushers yards. He's also a pretty good hunter. He could easily catch mice and squirrels. The grouse are out right now. They are stupid birds and pretty easy prey. He could eat enough snow to keep himself somewhat hydrated.
Yes, this is very typical of huskies and husky-crosses. They have no recall. They've been bred for thousands of years to run as far and as fast as they can in front of the humans. They have no homing instinct.
It is frustrating, aggravating and profoundly depressing!
Thanks again everyone. I appreciate the on-going support.
I still hope he comes home soon, and has some memory of love and care!
Cling to the thought that dogs are pack animals - Delta must know that he is part of a team
Growing up we had a shepard/husky mix. I was about 12 when we got him from the pound. That dog would run like crazy if he got out, we would chase him down. One time he really got away and we found him at the pound, after that he never ran away again.
That's so interesting about huskies having no recall, I had no idea! Of course, that only makes it more difficult, as you say. Still checking the thread every day, hoping for good news.

I'm so sorry that you're still having to deal with this, and, it sounds like Delta is fine out there, but, it's very sad that he's not home, yet. I'm still thinking of you from down here in South Carolina. And, praying for Delta to come home.
He may yet return, wouldn't he still consider your dogs as his home pack? I'm sure he's hunting down plenty to eat. From my experience, huskies have that prey drive for a reason! If Star ever got out, I really wouldn't worry about her going hungry, either. We'll keep praying for him, that he stays safe and sound, and decides to come home for a little loving. ((((((((hugs))))))))
Still thinking of you Delta.
Just checking in again and was so hoping that Delta had returned by now. I'm keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers constantly. Sorry I'm sounding like a broken record but I've run out of things to say.
(((((((HUGS)))))))
Thanks for the info Glacier. Still praying for you Delta. Please, please find your way back home.
Even though im new here and you probably never heard of me.... I want to send you a million and one big hugs {{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
I will pray for Delta to come home safe and very soon!
Still praying for Delta to return home soon.
(((HUGS)))
i once had a husky that had a houdini complex, she would get out throught the smallest hole, she even got out through a 10 cms space, just dont ask me how, tha thing is she ALWAYS returned, it may be a husky exception since i know they LOVE to RUN and they will if let, but i hope Delta has this exception and come back soon, hes had a fun time on his own but its time to go back.............come on buddy!!!
Prayers and positive thoughts still on the way that Delta decides to come back home real soon.
Still praying.
Still praying for Delta.
Delta is still in my thoughts.
Come on Delta, come home! You've got everyone so worried!
More good thoughts heading your way.
